Creating a Website Explosion

By the time you’ve finished reading this article, you’ll be part of a real-time experiment by becoming my oxygen. Let me explain …

One of the easiest ways to promote your website and your business is article writing. There’s no better way to show off your expertise than to write an article about what you know and publicize it.

Articles can help your website explode with popularity. One of the keys to ranking well in search engines is getting other websites to link to yours. By writing an article about your area of expertise – whether that’s fishing, rocket science, or anything in between – other websites will link to you, raising your popularity.

Will other websites actually link to your article? Yes. I’ll prove it.

I’m writing this article on July 27, 2006. It’s an original work and this date is important because it’s the beginning of this live website popularity experiment. This article is an ingredient in a chain reaction. It will end up blazing a trail across the internet. It won’t cost anything and it will raise my website’s popularity for months.

In a few moments, I’ll show you how to measure the results of this experiment yourself.

First, let’s think in terms of a fire - there are three ingredients: fuel, oxygen, and heat. We’ll apply those three to creating a fiery website explosion.

Fuel: Your fuel for creating a website explosion is an article. For instance, this article is what’s going to catch flame and spread. Without fuel, nothing happens.

Oxygen: Your oxygen source is the internet itself – it’s the audience that will be interested in what you say. That source is what will help this article stay lit and continue to spread. Much like an actual fire, oxygen keeps everything going.

Heat: Ignite your articles with a little bit of online promotion. As with a real flame, it doesn’t take much to get started. Even a little promotion can go a long way.

Subtract any single ingredient, and nothing will work. You can’t promote an article that doesn’t exist, nor can you promote something without an audience. If you have an article and an audience, but you don’t promote it? Nothing.

So you write an article and you’ve got an audience, now it’s time for promotion. If your article is well written and available in online article directories, you’ll get picked up by other websites and the chain reaction will begin. After all, you’ll have the fuel, the oxygen, and the heat to get things started.

Now let’s measure the success of this experiment! Go to Google (www.google.com) and in the search box, type in the title of this article (including the quotes): “Creating a Website Explosion”

The results will show every website that has published the article you’ve just read. As I’m writing this right now, that result is zero. As soon as I type the last word, I’ll start generating the heat. As you check out how far my explosion has reached, think about what you can do to ignite your own!

The Future Of Online Marketing

The NMA held a conference in London on the future of online marketing. The discussion covered a lot of interesting topics surrounding the increasingly popular world of search engine marketing.
Website usability and conversions
Peter Ballard from Foolproof spoke about improving website usability to improve conversion rates from your search engine marketing campaigns. Useful tips from this sessions were as follows:
• Buying decisions aren't always immediate. Visitors return to sites they had bookmarked or printed out
• Comparison shopping is very popular, and visitors view comparison sites as true guides, often a wrong perception
• This results in lower visitor loyalty and the need for sites to convince users why they should buy from them
• Provide users information they might need to make a decision... don't just push for a sale.
Search marketing in the future
Nick Cox from Mirago spoke about the future of search engine marketing - both optimisation and paid advertising. His session highlighted the following:
• Regional search and Europe-wide search are both growing initiatives. Whilst Google is pushing towards regional search, Tier 2 search engines are driving for Europe-wide search services
• Shopping comparison sites are gaining popularity
• As Google slashes agency commission, there may be motivation for agencies to return to SEO to make up for lost commission revenue
• Personalised search might make search engine optimisation nearly impossible if different users see totally different results.
Email marketing
Peter Chapman from Blue Streak discussed email marketing - yes, email marketing! - it is not dead, and when done well, it still provides great results. The main tips provided for the future of email marketing were:
• Email marketing is most effective when segmented according to:
o Stage of customer life cycle
o Product usage
o Geography
• Email marketing will be integrated with SEO and PPC even more in the future, to provide a more robust marketing model with multiple customer touch-points
• New avenues of marketing such as RSS and SMS will complement email marketing in the future.
Web site visitor analytics
The current market leading web site analytics providers, WebTrends spoke about a handful of issues currently surrounding analytics packages and the future of analytics. The main points to be noted were:
• Not all users accept cookies. An estimated 5-10% systems do not accept 1st party cookies, and as much as 28% of users do not accept 3rd party cookies. Therefore always look out for solutions offering multiple tracking method options.
• Conversions are not always detected by the Google AdWords or Overture system. Users often come back to sites later to make a final decision or purchase. Analytics packages should be tuned to count these conversions
• Ways to calculate conversion rates include:
o Number of conversions / Total visits
o Number of conversions / Sum of daily unique visitors
o Number of conversions / Absolute unique visitors
• Pay attention to segmentation information provided by website visitor data analysis, especially new versus repeat users, and referral sources.
The future of analytics providers seems to indicate a shift towards providing business analysis services rather than just tools. This need is being driven mostly by smaller businesses recognizing the need for visitor analysis but not having the skills to do it in-house.
Integration of analytics solutions with all forms of marketing, from PPC to email to banner marketing seems to also be on the upswing as client awareness improves.
The most immediate effect the above changes will bring about will be better navigation on website's, as businesses realize their customers' needs and optimise their site navigation to facilitate finding the information easily.

The odds of success in online business - affiliate marketing

Given the number of sites out there it's an interesting subject to talk about the success rate of online business ventures. Of course we know success is defined in different ways and a degree of personal satisfaction can be a measure of success. So for the sake of the discussion we are looking at only sites that set out to generate an income that can replace a wage and everything above that level. How many sites do you think come online every day? Thousands ? Millions? It's
a massive number, they are all trying to get search space and all trying to get traffic. The odds of making a dollar for Joe average are extremely low at best,I've am asked almost daily how is it done and the answer is there is no easy answer. It takes skill, a good idea and a good execution of that idea to even get you started. Once you have a formula that is working you should try to replicate that over and over if possible. This can be a a key factor in being good and being great. Start small, find a plan and then scale up, if your plan does not lend itself to easy replication then your behind before you start. There are a lot of good affiliate programs out there the hard part is deciding which one is worth pursuit and which ones are genuine and not scams. You need to stay ahead of the curve and that is not always easy online. One of the big hurdles is traffic, many new sites get little or no traffic - ever. I often tell web hopefuls to investigate Ebay because the traffic is already in play, all you need to do it tap into the Ebay site and your on your way, although I don't operate an eBay business it's pretty clear going this way will increase your
odds of success. If I had to make 1 dollar tomorrow I would choose YPN or Google adsense - But if you want to make more than a few bucks then your going to need serious traffic and page views and be prepared to align your self with one of the search companies. Lets face facts here, when you align with adsense they don't disclose the % they pay to you and they will "adjust" your % based on some mysterious quality score? and the benefit of the lower quality score only equals a larger slice to google not a better deal for the advertiser. Who wants to do business this way? I've seen some big adwords cheques published online so there is clearly money to be made here, the point is you need a good site with traffic volumes to make money. So it can be done and it is being done, to make an income online to replace your wage is very possible you just need to understand it is not going to fall out of the sky and land in your lap. Be prepared to have your site scraped, content stolen, your site dropped from search engines, server downtime and your
inbox loaded with all sorts of get rich yesterday schemes! If you want to stack the odds in your favor get a good website and some good SEO, look at PPC and other paid traffic options
and try to be fresh and original.

Search engine optimisation of Title Tags

Search Engines and Title Tags
The Title Tag has always been considered to be one of the most important on-site factors considered by search engines when ranking a site. In this article we revisit the rules of working with Title Tags for search engine optimisation (http://www.accuracast.com/services/search-engine-optimisation/ ).
Top 3 reasons to love your web page title tags
The title tags lie between the and tags of your web pages and are marked out as . The text included within the title tag displays on the top of your browser window.
1. Title Tags introduce your site
Title tags tell the users what you do in a few words. The title tag tells users what your web page is all about. E.g. a title such as "Cheap New York hotels" immediately tells you that the website deals with low-cost hotels in New York. Ideally they should be under 60 characters, including spaces.
2. Very important for search engine optimisation
All search engines pay a lot of importance to title tags (http://www.accuracast.com/services/search-engine-optimisation/website-development.php ). Since the title tag is meant to convey exactly what your web page is all about, search engines consider it to be a very important indicator of web page relevance when searching for a certain keyword. E.g. if you search for the term "reality tv" on Google, you will find the top 10 websites Google finds all contain the words "Reality TV" in their title.
3. Well written Title Tags will boost your sales
Good title tags ( http://www.accuracast.com/services/search-engine-optimisation/implementation.php ) will make you a winner. Most search engines display the text from your title tags in the search results, usually as the title of your listing. Good title tags prompt users to click on the search result to visit your website. Well constructed title tags will ensure that your site ranks high on the search results and attracts appropriate visitors who are most likely to convert into customers.
Top 3 reasons to hate other websites' title tags!
1. Title tag stuffing
Many businesses abuse the importance of title tags. Title tag stuffing is a common occurrence. It is a short term strategy and a very easy way to get your site blacklisted on most search engines.
2. Misleading title tags
If your title tag does not describe your web pages contents correctly, users will get irritated and leave your website quickly. Search engines also recognise this as a way to trick visitors and penalise web pages resorting to such tactics.
3. Empty title tags
If you do not specify your web page title, the search engine is compelled to pick up text from the top of your page. This may not always be what you want visitors to see as an introduction to your site.

Google AdWords Quality Score for Landing Pages

Google announced that it will also include metrics based on the relevance and quality of landing pages (http://www.accuracast.com/services/ppc-management/landing-pages.php ) in the quality score, which affects ranking and CPC of sponsored links, will now also include. We discuss:
AdWords Quality Score basics
The Quality Score is a number used by Google to evaluate the quality of your keywords in order to determine your minimum bid and the position your ad is shown in for a given maximum bid value. The Quality Score was normally determined for each keyphrase you bid on, by the clickthrough rate for the keyword, relevance of the actual ad's text, historical performance, and some other factors.
The Quality Score multiplied by the Maximum Bid gives you the value Google uses when deciding whether to set your keyword's status as active or inactive, and to decide the position of active keywords.
Changes in calculation of AdWords quality score
With the new system for calculating Quality Score, Google will now also include the quality and relevance of the landing page and the site to the keyword.
This means Google will probably spider your entire site from your AdWords landing page(s) (http://www.accuracast.com/services/ppc-management/google-adwords/ ), evaluate it in a manner similar to how it evaluates sites on its organic listings, use techniques like Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) to determine what the site is all about and then decide how relevant the site and the landing page are to the keyword.
Moreover, there is a high likelihood that Google will also use your conversion tracking values to provide an indication of whether or not their users are judging your site to be valuable and are converting into leads or sales on it, and include this as yet another metric when calculating the Quality Score.
How does this affect your search engine advertising?
On the face of it, this new metric does not change much for a scrupulous advertiser, who follows all of the Google AdWords ( http://www.accuracast.com/services/ppc-management/google-adwords/ ) editorial guidelines. The guidelines merely state that your landing page should be relevant to the ad copy and the keyword you bid on, it should include the main elements of the ad, should ideally provide details on any special offers quoted in the ad and should not attempt to mislead users.
If you follow the editorial guidelines and use AdWords scrupulously, the effect of this change should either be positive -marked by a lower CPC or better position - or none at all for your campaign.
Advertisers who chose to bid on low-price, high popularity keywords ( http://www.accuracast.com/resources/seo/seo-keywords.php ) just to gain visibility with the hope that a few inquisitive visitors might buy something from their site, will now find that they need to bid much more to keep these keywords active.
Keywords that don't convert well into sales or leads might also be negatively effected. This again, can be good for you, since you don't want to continue paying for words that are not winning you any money. This can be problematic, though, when your conversions tend to be offline, or over the phone for some keywords and not for others.

Back-links Strategies

Off-Site optimization playing a major role in any web-site ranking. Off-Site optimization refers to the factors that you can't control it in your site. One of the most critical parts in Off-Site optimization is back-links. The search engines sees the back-links as it's voting for your site, and as this voting increases your ranking increases also. There are many ways that enables you to get back-links to your site in order to get high ranking position for your site, however we will mention the most two important ways.

First way to get back-links is article submission. There are many sites in the Internet allowing you to submit your articles for free, and it also allows you to put up to three links by the end of your articles. By this way you will get free one way back-link to your site without the need to put a link back to the article site. This way not only gives you one way back-link, but it also gives you massive laser target traffic to your site. Simply there are a lot of members in article sites that seeks the latest information technology and the latest news by reading articles. So the members will visit the the article site, read your article, visiting your site, and that's it. You have just got a new visitor to your site.

Second method of getting back-links is directory submission. Today directories became a very important part of the Internet, and there are a lot of people that searching for a specific web-site service using the directories. However this method is not always free, because of the massive submission reports that the directories admins receive they start to take some fees to accept new sites. Some directories still provide this service for free, others ask for linking back in order to accept your site, and the last method is by paying money.

In conclusion, web-site ranking can be heavily effect by using Off-Site optimization. Off-site optimization can rank your site in the top ten, and also can drop your site to a lower position. In order to get a high ranking you should master Off-Site optimization, and especially the ways that gives you back-links.

Seo: Focus, Focus; Not Hocus, Pocus

Anyone who knows me, knows that my biggest pet peeves are loud eaters, auto-loading music on web sites and my next door neighbor. Today we can safely add to this list web sites that are so ambiguous, it could be argued they are part of some cryptic conspiratorial code.

My company offers a free service analyzing web sites from a search engine marketing perspective. At least once daily, we are sent the link to a web site with no clear and apparent focus. It's so bad that we don't know what keyword exactly to talk to the web site owner about in their analysis. I always tell these people, their biggest problem is not search engine optimization (or lack thereof), it's focus!

The most important aspect of any web site in any industry, anywhere in the world is user friendliness. There is no straying from this. Your web site can be optimized for the most competitive keyword in the world, it can rank number one across the board and you can even have your URL flashed across the posing torso of America's Next Top Model on CNN and it will do absolutely nothing whatsoever for your business if your web site is not user-friendly.

Visitors need to come to your site and know immediately what it is about. You have literally just a few seconds to capture their attention. If they don't see what they are looking for, quickly, they will leave.

Some tips to help you make sure your web site visitors stick around and understand what your web site is all about are as follows:

1. Find out the language your target audience is using to find your site, refer to your product or refer to your service. More often than not, professionals in an industry refer to things differently than the layman. If you are using too much jargon on your web site, you will lose your visitor's interest.

2. Avoid start pages, flash intros, or extra steps before getting to your sites info. In this day and age, we've all been spoiled by instant gratification and we all know how to get what we want within seconds. If your site doesn't offer answers as fast as it possibly can, you've already lost customers. Flash intros and welcome pages are pretty and sparkly and fun, but pretty, sparkly and fun doesn't make money. Visitors do.

3. Do not, under any circumstances, ever have auto-loading music or sound on your web site. A vast majority of computer users listen to mp3s while using their computers, and now their mobile phones with built-in mp3 players. If they're listening to the new Jimmy Eat World record or singing along to The Cult, the very last thing they want is to have some cheesy sales pitch interrupt the chorus. The first thing I do when I hit a site with any sort of sound or music, including the web sites of my favorite bands, I leave. I immediately leave, no questions asked. They could probably pay me to stick around for a bit, but cold hard cash is about the only thing that would keep me around and being as the purpose of your site is to make you money, paying people to visit it isn't necessarily the most cost-effective route to take.

4. Use nice, clean, professional looking graphics AND text. Most web users tend not to read. They skim and usually will only go that far if prompted by something graphic that strikes their interest. As is the case with storefronts in the real world, what draws people into a store they've only just seen or heard of for the first time, is looks and what it's selling. Think about it. If you're looking for antiques and you walked up to a store called "Joe's Emporium" and the entire thing had tinted windows so you couldn't see in, would you bother going in when the store right next door says "Betty's Antiques" and has a beautiful display of some the prettiest old stuff you ever saw? No. Joe would be out of business in no time.

Your site needs to be clean, professional and enticing. Cut the bells and whistles, stop beating around the bush and give it to them straight. No one wants their time wasted or their intelligence insulted and no one wants to be chasing white rabbits around trying to make sense of your web site. Give them the goods, give it to them fast and give it to them with class. When you've done that, then focus on search engine optimization and you will find that your numbers in traffic will reflect nice and proportionately, your numbers of inquiries.

Seo Or Ppc - Choose The Right Option For Your Business Web Site Marketing

When businesses start web site marketing or promotion, two main options help to achieve the goal, SEO (also referred as “organic optimization”) and PPC (also referred as “inorganic optimization”). Selecting the best option of these two is the first mile stone of any Internet Marketing Campaign.

Pay Per Click involves online advertising on web sites, search engines and their related advertising networks, by bidding highly searched and product relevant keywords and appropriate creating ads. These ads are called "sponsored links" or "sponsored ads”, which generally appear to the right or on top of organic (natural) results of search engines. Advertiser needs to pay whenever user clicks on the ad in accordance with his bidding amount.PPC is the ideal option for highly funded adversting campaigns aiming to achieve visitors and targeted traffic within short duration, however involves more cost and risk involvement.

Edge of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) over PPC :

• Guaranteed Clicks: Many Researches revealed that visitors in general prefer natural organic search links in comparison to PPC sponsored links.

• Long Term Traffic and ROI Benefit: Web site once ranked top in search engine’s organic results brings steady, long term traffic and in return ROI in contrast to short term traffic and ROI based ppc campaign.

• Less Risk and Cost Involvement: “Click Fraud” is the most concerned, risky and costlier affair for any PPC Campaign. SEO, in comparison involves zero or less risk and cost involvement.

• More Keyword Targeting: PPC facilitates bidding and ranking for limited set of keywords. SEO offers no such limitations on keyword targeting and ranking

• More Exposure and Wider Space Promotion: PPC Campaign is confined to pay-per-click search engines and its advertising networks. SEO promotion gives more exposure and wider space with RSS, Blogs, Social Search, News Articles, in addition to Search Engine placements.

In general ,SEO has major gains in comparison to PPC. However PPC can be considered for short duration in combination with long term and result -oriented seo promotion strategy.

Search Engine Marketing Firm: Call The Specialists

A common marketing method in use long before the internet era was that technique called article marketing. The seller publishes articles with interesting content related to their product to promote it and to get others to use the copy for more exposure to other potential clients. Now this is a very popular and effective web site marketing strategy as well.
Making use of a search engine marketing firm is perhaps the most effective way to use article marketing online. Firms like these enhance copy and make it more appealing to search engines. This is achieved by drawing search engine spiders to a site through use of key words. The search engines in turn increase the site's traffic ranking. As the copy is discovered by increasing numbers of other sites who then post it themselves, more links are created to the original site, building even more traffic, and potentially sales.
Choose a search engine marketing firm for their skill in picking terms and keywords that are the closest fit for a website's actual needs, not just what seems most popular. Every business has different requirements and these firms use the latest software to study the most effective ways to reach search engines and then explain their results to an online entrepreneur. Most offer several useful services.
Many site owners write good articles, but don't know how to rewrite those articles in the best way for searc engine optimization. A search engine marketing firm can be very helpful for such people. Others may not be very good at writing copy. Marketing firms can help those people as well by writing original content or rewriting their copy so that it is republished and attracts links. Such articles will use keywords in a way that attracts web spiders looking for those specific words. These firms can even duplicate an author's signature style.
As with all forms of marketing, website marketing relies upon informing potential customers about yourself and your products. Traffic is essential if you're going to achieve that, and traffic is created when people search for topics related to your product on a search engine. If you select the correct search engine marketing firm, you'll find that your exposure will be maximized. As a result, traffic will increase, and this is essential if you're going to make money.
If you like the idea of article marketing to sell your product or service, it doesn't matter now whether you have writing or promotion talent or not. Marketing firms who specialize in online business have the resources to provide whatever skill you need to be a success.

Images should be friendly and relevant to your site. Make sure your images can load within a reasonable amount of time, you don’t want to lose visitors because a single image caused an incredible amount of load time, or worse froze the visitors browser.

Make Sure ALL Links Are Working Links
The site with broken links, is against credibility of your website. You avoid this mistake and check, recheck, and check your links again, to avoid bad impression about your company

Improve Your Search Engine Rankings

Everyone knows that the best way to increase your income online is to increase your Search Engine Rankings. When researching how to increase your rankings you come across lots of hearsay and rumor but very few real facts. Separating the facts from the rumors can be a difficult task.

Every now and again a product is released that is worth it's weight in gold. One such product is Xtreme Rankings by Ryan Moran. Xtreme rankings contains no fluff and lot of information that will allow you to capture top search engine rankings. These in turn lead to more visitors and more income.
It is quite possible that you haven't heard of Xtreme Rankings. This is probably because the Ryan didn't want the entire usual marketing guru's promoting it. He preferred to let word get around naturally about just how good the product is.

Xtreme Rankings is a video and e-book package that will take you by the hand and show you step by step how to get your sites ranking highly in Google, Yahoo and MSN. It's not rocket science and everyone will be able to achieve good results by using the methods shown.

Unlike many similar products Ryan keeps Xtreme Rankings up to date. This is really useful as the SEO methods change all the time. Recently Netscape changed their name to propeller and Ryan has already incorporated this into the program.

I've been using Xtreme rankings for several months now and the change to my business has been immense. I have drastically reduced my PPC costs as I no longer need to advertise as much as my sites now get organic traffic from the the search engines. The savings in advertising costs alone would have paid for Xtreme rankings many times over.

When I now launch a site I am secure in the knowledge that within 4 weeks by using the methods in Xtreme rankings I'll be generating a good level of free search engine traffic. In the past 2 days a site created at the end of last month has made 2 sales. This is only going to grow over the coming few months.

How long does it take you to get 100 visitors per day to visit a new site? If I told you that by using the methods Ryan teaches in Xtreme rankings that I have received an average of 120 a day for the past 2 days to a site that is just slightly more than a month old would you be impressed? The traffic to this site has been building daily. I could only hope to do this in 6 months before I started using Xtreme Rankings.

If you want to make money online then the best way is to increase your search engine rankings in Google , MSN and Yahoo. The best way to rank well is to read the e-book and view the video that comes with Xtreme Rankings. You owe it to yourself to look at what Xtreme Rankings can do for you.

Is Google Preparing To Counter Yahoo's Search Assist?

On the evening of October 30th 2007, I was doing my typical SEO rank checks, when something caught my attention at Google.com. As I was typing some text into the search box, out came a gray box with search suggestions that got ever more precise as I typed in my text.
The dropdown box on Google certainly appeared to be very similar to Yahoo’s Search Assist. The exception is that the box also contained the number of search results for each given term, much like what is found on Google Labs. This was a two column format, with the suggested search term on the left and the search result number on the right. I saw no option to disable the search suggestions as Yahoo provides.

Thinking that this was the launch of yet another search engine feature, I quickly logged on to my Digital Point forum account and began a thread about this new feature. The responses took me off guard. Nobody else could see it. Knowing that my vision is good, I returned to Google to try it again. This time I would post a screenshot. Well, I never was able to take the screenshot as the search suggestions were off. What I had seen was a rare occurrence and quite possibly the testing of a new search feature on Google.
Despite being the dominant player in the search engine market, Google is smart enough to know that Yahoo is its closest competitor. And even Google, the behemoth it is, plays catch up to the competition every now and then.

The search engine market is an ever changing landscape. Behind the scenes it appears that Google is testing a comparable feature to counter Yahoo’s Search Assist. Only time will tell if this feature ever makes it to market, but I feel privileged that Google shared something with me and apparently few others.

All About On Page Seo

When it comes to doing business online, you will soon discover that it’s all about the traffic. Traffic, or the number of internet users you’d be able to generate for your website, is and will always be the lifeblood of any online venture. After all, what good is a website when there’s no one there to see its pages? How successful will your digital products be if no one would be able to know about them? Who will avail of your services when no one will get exposed to their existence?

Contrary to what many people believe, generating traffic for your website does not start once you pages are published and have gone live. Traffic generation strategies start at the very moment you are conceptualizing an idea for the website itself.

This is what on page search engine optimization (SEO) is all about. It is concerned with techniques that you could implement on your web pages themselves to ensure a good volume of traffic for your website. 80% of your traffic would come from the many search engines in the World Wide Web. If each and every web page you have is optimized for these search engines, then your website would be in a good position to have a high rank for the results of every relevant query.

• Keyword selection. Choosing the right keywords is essential for the success of your website. Keywords are the popular search terms that people use to gather information from the search engines. If your web pages are populated by the right density of the correct keywords, then you’ll have better chances of winning the attention of the search engine spiders. To determine the appropriate keywords for the subject that your website will be servicing, use the free tools that can be found at http://www.nichebot.com .

• Keyword placement in content. Content is the king of the internet. But even royalty needs support. Populate your content with the proper amount of keywords. A density level of at least 2% should be sought. This means that the right keywords should be mentioned at least twice for every 100 words of text.

• META tags. META tags are HTML codes that do not have a bearing on the physical appearance of your web pages, but they do inform the search engine spiders that such web pages are appropriate for a particular query. Always include the following META tags on the top portion of your source code. You could copy-paste them from the list below, but do change the indicated fields. Also, make sure that you include your keywords as much as you could on your META tags.

• ALT tags. ALT tags refer to the text that would appear every time the mouse cursor would pass through an image. Your ALT tags should include your keywords.

• Page titles. Page titles are the captions that appear at the very top of your web page. Make sure that each web page in your website would have a different title that will include the appropriate keywords.

• Focus. Remember, search engines will crawl through your website per page. Each page is a different project altogether. Focus is the key. Ensure that each web page of yours would focus on a particular keyword or key phrase. If there is an article in that page, make sure that the article will only discuss and include one keyword or key phrase from the list you have made. Also, it would greatly help if you would name the page file in a manner that would include the keyword or key phrase it is focused on. For example, http://www.thisisyourwebsite.com/thisisyourkeyword.html is a good page filename that would help boost your SEO efforts.

Following these guidelines would help you a lot in securing a favorable position in search engine results pages. This in turn would guarantee for you a sustainable and sufficient volume of traffic that would make your website a genuine success.

Seo Fundamentals

Introduction:
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to view my SEO hints and tips e-book on the often forgotten aspects of SEO. This book was written from the collective knowledge and information gathered by Chris Diprose, owner and manager of Kanga Internet. Kanga Internet are located in Melbourne, Australia and they focus on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Web Development for the Joomla Content Management System (CMS).

With Search Engine Optimization there are lots of unknowns, educated guesses and knowledge gained from personal and associative experience. Google, Yahoo and MSN keep their cards close to their chest when it comes to revealing how their ranking systems actually work. They tell the community trickles of information on what things can affect search engine results, how they can be improved and what to do in certain situations, but mostly knowing what to do to achieve good results is achieved by studying and hard work. Much alike other SEO consultants I have gathered information from various sources and worked constantly on improving results for customers. I am always looking for new intelligent ways to improve search engine results. I believe in "White Hat" (or more appropriately, "Grey Hat") principles.
Edition 1 of this e-book is intended for people looking to improve their websites from the ground up. I address SEO design fundamentals; the things you need to consider before embarking on any text and keyword analysis. I hope you find these hints and tips useful.

Enjoy the readings herein.
- Chris Diprose

The Website Revelation – What owning a website actually means.
As a Web Developer and SEO consultant I deal with many existing website owners who are looking to modify or improve their website. I also deal with many people who are looking to start their web presence with a new website. Through both of these interactions there is often a common theme; a misunderstanding or an attitude. I call this a misconception of reality, as often the reality of what the Internet can actually do for the persons business and what they think it can do differ massively.

Often it is presumed that by simply owning a domain and having a website built and published on the Internet, thousands of people will magically find the website, visit it and buy their products. "If you build it, they will come" should be removed from the vocabulary as soon as possible if you are to adjust attitudes to the underlying search technology. As a businessman in the real World, it is obvious that it would not happen outside of the Internet ether, so what is so different online? Maybe it was the Technology boom 10 years ago that caused a rift in understanding or maybe the buzz that caused the meteoric rise in the stock prices of Tech Companies, I can hear the thoughts of the small businessman, "surely this can be replicated for my business" – in answer I would say, "well, it is unlikely, but you should be able to achieve some results over time".

It is most important when taking on a project like Search Engine Optimization for a website, to know that it is important to be committed for the long haul. It is no small task and sufficient funds need to be allocated to the project. Delivery deadlines need to be correctly scoped against required changes, in order to meet client expectations. The key points of responsibility to the SEO project are in knowing that there are big changes near the start and during setup but the changes do not stop after setup, there are a continuous ongoing refinements to the design and system over time. In this regard I find it important to manage expectations and set realistic long term goals on what a website can be expected to achieve and in what time frames those goals hope to be met.

So what should your goal be when you are delving into SEO for your website? Well, everyone’s goal is exactly the same; improve page rankings, improve page visits and hits and finally gain more sales through the website.

When it comes to SEO and achieving these goals you have to have principles and my main principle is, "Good websites get good ratings and bad websites get bad ratings or none at all." As time goes on with the improvement of search engine technology and the refinement of search engine results this statement becomes truer and truer. I believe in results through "white hat"(reads; "Grey Hat") principles and methodologies.

What are "white hat" principles? I guess I would compare it to doing things the honest way and the right way without risk. So develop a good site, promote good linking, have good informative content and keep working on it and then you are on the road to good rankings through "White Hat" principles.

So, why should you do things the "white hat" way? Well, search engines do have some kind of understanding, an artificial intelligence. They soon catch on to websites spamming or linking to websites with no relevance and bad cross linking. It’s about being smart, in for the long term and wanting your business to grow organically, naturally.

So how do I go about improving my site and making it optimized for search engines naturally? Well, that’s why you’re here! So let’s run through few of the things you should be doing in your websites from a fundamental level.

Domain names:
When choosing a domain name, choose one that is relevant to the product or service you are going to provide and that is as simple as possible. There are considerations of branding and product/service provided that should go into this choice. Involvement of marketing personal and product understanding is required but also consultation with your SEO professional is advantageous. In this step I would say, take some time and choose wisely. Keep it simple and easy to remember, often saying it out loud will make it clear whether it can be understood by a simple man.

It is a strongly held belief by many SEO professionals that buying a domain which is older, and that has been around for a while, means it will not be sand boxed by Google. What’s the sandbox effect? Well, it refers to what Google does to a website or domain that is new or is relatively unknown by Google. In many instances Google’s Sandbox effect relegates the new domain to sub-optimal inclusion in search results. Regardless of the sites optimization it lowers the websites relevance and ranking to the term searched upon. If you can use your old business domain name, then consider this very important.

If, however, you are buying a new domain name then keep it relevant to the product or service being sold or offered on the website. Keep it close, relevant and simple. Relevance is primary.

Location specific domain or international domain ( .com or com.au)? Personally I think dot com’s are better, mainly because they appeal Internationally but if you want to you can keep it location specific and to your region then consider purchasing all similar higher level domains, yourdomain.com and yourdomain.com.au, if you can.

Choosing a Host:
Fast, reliable and gives you all you that you need and want. Preferably gives a unique IP. Again some SEO professionals believe this can also have a detrimental affect in Google rankings but from my experience it sometimes does and it sometimes doesn’t. I have had some sites come in with high PR rankings on shared IP’s and others when I shifted to a new IP the PR of the site jumped, so this is still a bit of a mystery when it comes to Google rankings. I guess a consideration

Traffic considerations: When choosing your host ensure the plan you are on can be expanded so that any new increases in traffic can be accommodated accordingly.

Site Design:
There are several fundamental things to consider when you are modifying or designing a website.

Flash:
Flash is has been popular for a few years now and I truly believe it has its place. It is a great way of showing many products or services in a small area, has great visual impact if done properly and can set a good friendly tone to the website visitor. Having said that, I also hate flash; it can be an absolute nightmare when it comes to search engine optimization.

What you should know about flash; it cannot be read by a search engine as the search engine cannot read the text or the images contained within it nor can it interpret what is in the pictures being shown.

When it comes to flash I would suggest, not making your whole website flash. If you are designing a new website and you want to use flash then use it in high impact areas to capture the attention of your intended audience but use it sparingly. It is important to ensure that as much text content(to a maximum discussed in my next book, generally 300-500 characters) is available on the webpage and in simple HTML.

Frames:
Many older websites were designed with frames. Frames are where the main home page is actually a frameset page that includes several other pages into it. This makes the page hard to index in search engines and should be avoided. While Google do now index framed sites, it is important to note that most of the other top search engines still cannot follow frame links. They only see the frameset page and ignore the rest of the inner frames. This presents an SEO problem to us because it is highly likely those inner pages contain our content keywords.

Nowadays this is not really a huge issue as it is so uncommon for a designer to actually use frames but the easiest way to resolve the issue would be to enforce a no use policy on frames.

Page Layout:
According to research the Googlebot trawls web pages from left to right and top to bottom. So given this little tidbit of information it is clear that you should be putting our most valuable keywords and information on the left and near the top. Of course this is a blanket statement and does not take into account design principles and beautification. Just keep it in mind during design of page layout. Position your move relevant keywords to the left of the page and near the top.

Good HTML Coding:
A lot of HTML generator programs out there bloat HTML to the point it is 3-4 times larger than what it would be if you hand coded it. Keep it simple, use a text editor, edit your HTML the old school way; until there is a HTML generator tool worthy of use. If you can’t code HTML then do a search on the Internet and find a decent, free, e-book and learn how to do it.

Javascript:
This is very popular among many web development professionals for menu’s, popups, scollers etc etc. It would be my suggestion to use simple plain HTML menu’s or as little Javascript as possible in web pages. There are many small JavaScript menu’s out there that are slim on JavaScript code to reduce this issue and make it almost negligible. Don’t over clutter your site with JavaScript as it increases page size, page load times and the search engines won’t understand it.

Image Sizes:
Keep them small and use only what you need to. This is essential for decreasing page loading times and getting information onto the users screen as soon as possible.

Overall page size and loading:
The overall page size is an important factor. It should load quickly and be easily trawled. If you have followed the HTML hand coding, used minimal javascript, used simple table layouts and good image sizing then you should be fine. There is much evidence that supports the fact that Google and probably the other search engines also, do not like to scan huge files, so keeping your overall HTML page size below 25k is my suggestion.

Dynamic URL’s & page/file names:
Dynamic pages are roadblocks to high search engine positioning. Especially those that end in "?" or "&". In a dynamic site, variables are passed to the URL and the page is generated dynamically, often from information stored in a database as is the case with many e-commerce sites. Normal .html pages are static - they are hard-coded, their information does not change, and there are no "?" or "&" characters in the URL.

Pages with dynamic URLs are present in several engines, notably Google and AltaVista, even though publicly AltaVista claims their spider does not crawl dynamic URLs. To a spider a "?" represents a sea of endless possibilities - some pages can automatically generate a potentially massive number of URLs, trapping the spider in a virtually infinite loop.

As a general rule, search engines will not properly index documents that:
• contain a "?" or "&"
• End in the following document types: .cfm, .asp, .shtml, .php, .stm, .jsp, .cgi, .pl
• Could potentially generate a large number of URLs.
To avoid complications, consider creating static pages whenever possible, perhaps using the database to update the pages, not to generate them on the fly.

Slightly Off Topic Thoughts:
The topics covered here are not considered completely SEO topics but in terms of overall objective – increasing sales, this section is very important. Take these things on board, consider them, consult with your designer and marketing team. Make educated and informed choices on these topics when considering your audience and what your website objectives are.

Screen Size:
Over 65% of all screens in the World are set to run at the 1024x768 resolution. Of the remaining percentage, 13% are running at 800x600, 20% running at larger sizes and 2% are unknown. So this affects the way you design. It would be my suggestion to always design for the smallest user to visit your site, but often I find 800x600 restrictive so I tend to design for slightly larger. Not large enough to make an 800x600 user angry but large enough to make it look good on larger screens also. I weigh up my target users, my intended amount of content and find some happy medium. I generally design for 1000x620 as this is the perfect amount of real estate for a 1024x768 user when they have the browser top bar and status bar and Windows taskbar.

colors and themes:
One important aspect of marketing - selling - is the use of color. Meanings are attached to colors in the same way meanings are attached to words.

• Gold is the color of wealth and prosperity.
• White is the color of pure innocence and cleanliness.
• Pink is the color of femininity and softness.
• Green is the color of natural things and freshness.
• Red is the color of danger and stress.
• Blue is the color the calmness, intelligence. The majority of the World selects blue as a favorite color. It often represents "trust"

Use of color to establish an image or a brand is common in the marketing community, yet when you visit the websites of many search engine optimization professional’s, it's obvious that color significance plays no part in their own web optimization. Some of the colors I found on SEO websites:
• Baby Blue, a color which implies weakness.
• Red, a color which implies risk, or danger.
• Orange a color which implies a cheerful "levity". Orange is one of Americans’ least favorite colors.

Although color selection is off topic for SEO I would consider it a very important factor in what SEO is trying to achieve, in the end, for your website – selling more product, creating loyalty to your brand and customer impact. color research is something you should seriously consider. In summary of color choices I would suggest studying and learning more about your customers, researching color choices and their relevance to your underlying products and making informed choices on these in collaboration. If in doubt then I suggest sticking to safe and trusted colors within safe eye pleasing designs.

Gifs for logos & jpgs for pictures:
Ensure you are using gifs for logos and background placements and jpgs for photos on your website. This helps reduce size and improve clarity of the web site overall.

Browser:
It is vitally important to ensure your web page works in both IE, Firefox and Opera. Testing other browsers is also an advantage but these are the main three in use nowadays (2007). I think quoting stats on the browser breakdown are irrelevant as you need it work in all browsers. W3C cross browser compliance is great for this.

So, this brings us to the end of Volume 1: Fundamentals of SEO Web Design. There are many things to consider when designing a website or modifying a web site to make it more SEO friendly. Clearly I have a few more volumes left in SEO for websites.

Newbies -- Critical Work You Have To Do When Starting A Home Based Internet Business

Attention all Newbies! Critical work you have to do when starting a home based Internet business...

There are many crucial facets to excelling in the home based Internet business arena. What I want to do is show you how to come out of the gate strong and not waste valuable time and money while learning the ropes. Internet based business can be a tedious and tough gig, but if you apply a few simple principles from the outset, you will get a great feel and build links to gain visitors along the way.

First things first. You have started the home based business and now you need a plan to know what to do. You probably have a good training program, but the very first things you should apply are these which I am about to present to you. Not necessarily in this order, but they need to be done ASAP!

Start a blog. Start a blog. Start a blog. Blogs are crucial to search engines and once you learn to use them effectively, you can find your article at the top of the search engines for your keywords in no time at all. Search engines love new, original content. The more you post on your blog, the more your blog gains strength in the search engines. Your home based Internet business should be linked to every post that you write because it builds wonderful back links to your business site.

You can start a free blog at Blogger or Wordpress and both are easy to set-up if you follow the instructions. Both can be used as you do not have to choose one or the other. Many home based marketers use both in great harmony with their Internet based business. After you start the blog, try to post new content to it as much as you possibly can. This builds links, remember?

Next, join a forum. Many home based businesses have forums for Newbies to learn, but you have to interact and not just read. Forums give you the ability to put a "signature" into each post that you write and this is also crucial for back links to your home business site. This also adds more new original content to search engines. Forums are also very insightful and can be very fun.

This tip is critical! Learn how to use keywords effectively. This is probably the #1 mistake that Newbies make. It takes them months to utilize the shear power of keyword optimization. There are many, many free tutorials, tips, and tools that show you how to use keywords to greatly enhance your web presence. If you can learn this from the start, you can save months of frustration trying to break into the top pages of the search engines. Keywords, keywords, keywords. Drill that into your mind.

Also, learn how to optimize your website (if you have your own). There are also many great tools on how to learn basic html code. If you can make your site unique and stand apart from others, this attracts more than just the search engines. Visitors are soon to follow. You do not have to have a million dollar looking website, you just have to have the right content and keywords on there to make it effective in SE rankings.

Lastly, learn how to write articles. If you cannot write, then practice. Find tutorials or books that show you how to right good quality material. Then start adding what you learn with keyword optimization and you can start putting good, original content on your home based business blog and website. You can also post your articles to forums, article directories, and social sites.

These are the fastest ways to building links to your home based Internet business website. Start with these and you can get off to an amazing start with your home based business journey. Save yourself some time and trouble because being a Newbie in home business is tough enough.

Google Blocks Pagerank Queries

Google’s war against PageRank continues. It appears that Google has now introduced a filter to limit the PageRank queries its data center’s receive.

On November 8, 2007, a good number of PageRank (PR) followers began to notice their favorite PR tools were inoperative and/or returning erroneous results. Initially, there was some speculation that Google would be unleashing another round of penalties against link sellers. Others believed Google was running yet another toolbar export. Everyone was wrong.

Any IP address that queries PageRank from multiple data centers is being blocked after a number of queries. Some are speculating that the queries are capped at 1000 per hour, while my observations lead me to believe it is much lower. Fortunately for some, this filter appears to be only temporary. After a few hours, the temporary block is lifted. One can only speculate if this is the beginning of a more intense offensive against PageRank queries and those that use such tools to validate the sale of links.

The release of this filter is already beginning to ripple through the paid link economy. Link sellers and buyers typically use Online PR tools to verify rank at multiple data centers. Of these Online tools, some offer more advanced features to determine if the rank is authentic or being spoofed by a redirect.

Link sellers and the buyers seeking higher PageRank are not the only ones that benefit from multiple data center tools. There are a number of Websites that have built their visitor base because they provide these tools.

Over the last several months Google has stepped up its enforcement of link sales. Limiting access to its data centers is just another step in reigning in the sub-economy that was created with PageRank.

Article Marketing Conversion Method – How To Multiply Your Article Marketing For Maximum Profits! Part 1

Many marketers write articles without a back-end in mind. They lose a lot of time and money with their article marketing efforts to only make tiny profits.

Don't be one of them. Here is a powerful article conversion method that I learned from my first affiliate marketing and search engine optimization coach.

Follow these simple steps:

Pre-step: If you don't have an adsense account, get one today.

1) Step 1: Article Writing

Write a quality article on your topic. If you are in the martial arts niche, your title could be: “How To Win Any Fight In Less Than One Minute”...

Your title is very important, because it is the first element of your copy that your visitor will see.

You have less that five seconds to get your visitor attention. Write a powerful article title, and then, a great opening.

Tip: Whenever you write an article, think about your reader. Will he say “wow, thanks, this article helped me a lot”, or he will be disappointed?

Publish it on your website as an ezine (you can even assign a number).

2) Step 2: Create a web page on your site.

Add the article on this page, and copy and paste the adsense code as well.

Note: you can replace adsense with affiliate marketing programs if you wish. Don't forget to test to find out which one is the most profitable for you. This will depend on your niche.

If you don't have a site yet, don't worry, nothing can be easier when you get the design dashboard.

3) Step 3: Send an email to your list.

Send an email to your list (you can use the broadcasting feature or you can schedule it at a predefined date).

It's easy, here is what you need to do: you put the title in the subject line (a powerful title will force your subscriber to click).

In the body of the email, write a sentence or two about the article, and put a link to your web page.

Whenever someone opt in your list, he will receive your message, and read your article (a big percentage of your subscribers).

When they click on your adsense ads (or they buy something through your affiliate link), you earn money.

So what you need to do now?

1. Write an article
2. Add the article to your website
3. Add a related affiliate program (or simply adsense)
4. Add it to your autoresponder sequence
5. Repeat.

It's easy and highly profitable, so go back to work now.

Search Engine Optimization And Article Marketing Strategy!

If you write articles regularly to promote your websites, you don't want to distribute those articles and let them die on your hard rive.

Whether you are just a bum marketer or you only write articles for your own website, you need to use leverage to increase your search engine rankings.

I mean that you should profit again and again from something you've done only one time.

This is one the secret of Internet rich...

Whenever you write an article for your website, you need to research the keywords first. Because if you don't do this, nobody is going to find your site, and it will be hard to make any money.

In a second time, add the article to your auto responder. Like this, when someone subscribe to your list, he will see your article.

I remember reading an article from a marketer, and when I finished to read it (it was excellent), I found that the author wrote it in 2004...

Three years later, his article is still making him money. And this will continue (unless he drops this page!).

Add the article to your website (with your keywords), like this, the search engines will send more traffic your way.

Here is how it works: visitors come to your site from the search engines, and they subscribe to your newsletter.

Even if they don't read the article on your website, they will receive an email in their email inbox with a link to visit your website again.

Obviously, if you stop here, this article is not going to make you any money. That's why you need to monetize it....

You have many options to monetize an article: adsense, private label rights, your own products, affiliate programs, cost per leads offer, ebay auction... The list can go on.

Once you do this, you have a powerful article technique in place because many people will visit your article and click on your links.

If you monetize with adsense, every single click will make you money. If you choose affiliate programs, you will earn a profit when the visitor buy at the merchant site.

If you choose a cost per lead, you will earn when your reader fills in his name and email address for more information, etc...

This article marketing technique is easy to implement. It will take you only twenty or thirty minutes of your time, so don't delay, write your article, add any of the programs listed above to monetize your web page, and then add it to your autoresponder.

How To Leverage Your Article Marketing Efforts...

If you already heard about the bum marketing method, I hope you are not only submitting articles and linking to the merchant's site.

If you do this, you are leaving a considerable amount of money on the table.

Why? Because if you do this, you will not profit from all the backlinks in the long run.

Here is what you need to do whenever you write an article...

1. Write an article
2. Add it to your website
3. Monetize it with affiliate programs (cpa, cps, cpc)
3. Add it to your autoresponder series.

Press Releases – The Secret to Search Engine Optimization Success

Search engine optimization through the Google search engine revolves around website links. The goal is to have links to your website from other websites that have a high Google page rank. One way to obtain these links is to contact high page rank websites so they will put your website link on their website.

Another method is to send out a press release that contains links to your website. This is a much easier way to set your website up for search engine optimization. Your press release should contain three links pointing to your website.

A great resource to create and send press releases is to use prweb.com and prewebdirect.com. Prwebdirect costs money, but is well worth it. You can find a package around $200 that optimizes your press release for search engines. Prwebdirect can turn your keywords and keyword phrases into hyperlinks for you. These links will point towards your website.

You should send press releases out every single week. Normally, the purpose of a press release is to gain the attention of media outlets such as newspapers and television. However, you are sending press releases out for a different reason. Your purpose is to optimize your website in the Google search engine. Therefore, don’t worry about getting a media response from your press release. The key is to put three different links to your website on your press release.

After your press release is sent out it will go to websites with a high page rank. Google sends a “spider” that sees that your press release is at a highly ranked website. This prompts Google to give your website a higher page rank. Google figures that if your website link is on a highly ranked page then your website must be worthy of a high page rank.

It is important to minimize the number of outbound links on your own website. You don’t want more than 20 links pointing out of your website. Google will lower your page rank if you have a great deal of outbound links. Essentially, Google doesn’t want you to set up links for the sole purpose of increasing the page rank of another website. Why? Google may think that you are spamming the search engines with a bunch of your own websites. Google does not want you to use gimmicks in order to create a search engine optimization scenario.

The Power of Testimonials in SEO

Search engine optimization should be at the top of your list when it comes to your website. You want to earn a high page rank in the Google search engine. Two ways to increase your page rank in Google is to have high page rank websites link to your website and to send out press releases that contain links to your website. Both of these search engine optimization options are effective, but they are not the only methods you can employ. It is critical to diversify your search engine optimization efforts.

Another option to add to your search engine portfolio is to give testimonials to other websites. Offer to give testimonials on websites that you value. Look for products and services that would benefit from your testimonial. Make sure that these websites are of high quality and have a high page rank. You want to ensure that your website information is posted on a top notch website.

Always make sure to put your name and website address at the bottom of each testimonial. Verify that your website address will be given has a hyperlink and not just text. This hyperlink points to your website, thus improving your placement in Google’s search engine results. Plus, if a visitor clicks on the hyperlink then they will be automatically directed to your website.

Another major benefit of providing testimonials on high page rank websites is that it will give you name and website recognition. Plus, your page rank will increase because you have created incoming links from quality websites. The key is that your website address is in the testimonial.

While it is beneficial for you to give testimonials on other websites, do not put testimonials on your own website. Having testimonials on your own website does not help you for two reasons. One reason is that if a customer clicks on the website address of a testimonial they may never come back to your website. Another reason is that the links from the testimonials will lower your page rank in Google.

Testimonials are a great way to promote your website. You will be amazed at how testimonials can shoot your search engine placement to the top spot on Google. Testimonials don’t cost you any money. They only cost you a little bit of time that will bring your much higher rewards in return.

Keyword Research: Choosing the Right Keywords

Before starting any search engine optimization campaign it is crucial to target the right set of keyword phrases for your market. Often times the most obvious keywords aren’t always the best. This can be the case for a number of reasons. When choosing the right keyword phrases, it is important to remember three elements: popularity, competition, and relevance.

Keyword Popularity refers to the sheer number of people searching for a particular keyword phrase. This is often the concept that most people have no trouble understanding – if your website is optimized well for a keyword phrase that a lot of people are searching for, this will bring you more traffic. After all, what good is it to be ranked #1 in Google for a keyword phrase that nobody searches for?

Keyword Competition is an area that some newcomers to SEO fail to examine. When a particular keyword phrase is popular, this usually means that there are many other websites out there competing for top rankings of that phrase in the search engines. The number of competing websites is the number of results a search engine returns for a specific query. Optimizing for a competitive keyword phrase can make it much more difficult for you to achieve successful search engine rankings for these phrases.

So now you may be asking yourself, “Ok, great! Now how do I find popular keywords that aren’t very competitive?”. Many keyword research services, such as WordTracker.com, include an index that measures exactly this. The Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) is a qualitative measure of how easily it is to optimize for a particular keyword phrase. KEI is essentially a matter of ‘supply and demand’. Ideally, we want to select keywords that are extremely popular but aren’t very competitive. This would result in a very high KEI and take very little effort to achieve successful rankings.

But we can’t forget one other very important element when choosing the right keywords…relevance.

Keyword Relevance has to do with how much a keyword phrase relates to your products or services. If you rank well for a popular search phrase and receive a lot of traffic from it, this still doesn’t help you if the traffic doesn’t translate to sales or leads. For instance, let’s say you’ve found a good niche phrase that is fairly popular and has a high KEI index – “free keyword ranking report”. So you optimize for this keyword phrase, rank well, and receive more traffic. However, if your website doesn’t offer a free keyword ranking report or have any information on how to receive a free keyword ranking report, these extra visitors will not actually convert to customers. It is important to remember not to get too caught up in the popularity and KEI of a keyword phrase. You must also think about keyword relevance when conducting your keyword research.

Choosing the right keyword phrases to target can be the deciding factor between a successful and unsuccessful search engine optimization campaign. When doing your research, remember to keep in mind your business goals and the three factors discussed above. Is it always easier to work with the market trends instead of against them.

Increase your Page Rank by Using EBay

Did you know that you can increase your Google page rank by using EBay? You can do this by actually buying a link off a website. You can purchase website links from the popular auction website of Ebay.com. Essentially, you are buying your way to a higher Google page rank.

How do you purchase a website link at EBay? First, go to ebay.com. Next, type in the words “Page rank” in the search bar in EBay. Hit search. EBay will provide information that contains the words “page rank”.

What page rank should you buy? Only buy page ranks of 5, 6, or 7. How much should you pay for each page rank? How can you determine the value of each page rank? Multiply the page rank times ten. For example, you would be willing to page $50 +/-10 for a page rank of 5. The +/-$10 allows you to have flexibility. It gives you a range that you are willing to pay. This payment amount is how much you are willing to pay per month.

Why not buy page ranks of 8, 9, or 10? Purchasing page ranks this high is like buying a multimillion dollar home. It is difficult to figure out how much to pay for these links. There are much fewer websites that have page ranks of 8, 9, or 10. Therefore, it is hard to ascertain their true value. In other words, one page ranked at 9 may be a five million dollar house while another page ranked at 9 might be worth a one hundred million dollar house. However, you won’t know which “house” you picked.

Only buy page ranks that have the “Buy Now” option. Do not deal with bidding. You don’t want to waste time in negotiations with the seller. The “Buy Now” feature allows you to instantly purchase the link and not worry about a changing price.

Examine the page rank deals on EBay. Look for a page rank deal that has a page rank that is 5, 6, or 7 and fits in your price range. Take your time and explore the various page rank deals. You may find deals that are undervalued. For example, you may find a “Buy Now” deal with a page rank of 7 for only $20. This would be a great deal because it costs much less than what you are willing to pay for a page rank of 7. Take advantage of these deals.

Now it’s time to purchase the link with the high page rank on EBay. Make sure that you only purchase from sellers that have positive feedback. Do not purchase from sellers that have negative feedback no matter how great the deal may be.

Find out where your website link will be placed on their website. You want to purchase text links. Examine how they will deal with your website. What type of what website is it? What are the terms of the deal?

Don’t forget to look at their maximum number of ads. Remember, each ad on their website has a link pointing to another website. You want to make sure that their maximum number of ads is less than twenty. Otherwise they are just creating links for anyone who will pay. This will lower the page rank of their website.

It is important to note that when you buy a page rank link off EBay, they most often will not tell you the actual name of the website where your link will be placed. The seller will also specify the maximum length of your ads.

Search Engines, Keywords and Dictionaries

Using the right keywords is crucial, for searchers and webmasters alike. Here are two sites with definitions and translations of hundreds of thousands of words, in a wide variety of languages.

Most webmasters quickly learn the importance of using the right keywords when they start to "optimize" web pages for search engines. Using the right words in the right ways can mean the difference between pages being found in search results and being lost among a sea of millions of other web pages.

Similarly, seasoned searchers know that using the "right" keywords in queries can often mean the difference between great results and total garbage.

While there are many techniques for selecting the appropriate keywords for both search engine optimization and searching, dictionaries and glossaries are the most fundamental tools for both processes. And while there are many word-oriented web sites, Xlation and OneLook Dictionaries provide a wealth of resources largely unmatched elsewhere.

Xlation is a site primarily designed for translators. It features more than 1,600 dictionaries, which also serve as glossaries. Using the links on the Dictionaries page allows you to select both multilingual and single language dictionaries.

Xlation's Glossaries page lets you narrow your focus by selecting both category and language. Using drop down menus, you can select from a variety of categories rom Aerospace to Transportation (or all categories), and more than 60 languages from Afrikaans to Yiddish.

Although OneLook Dictionaries is somewhat smaller than Xlation, with "4,197,163 words in 746 online dictionaries" included in its index, it works differently enough, and provides enough variation that it's a worthy companion to Xlation.

OneLook Dictionaries also provides an answer to the niggling riddle that occasionally makes its way around listservs on the Net:

"There are three words in the English language that end in 'gry.' One is angry and one is hungry. Everyone knows what the third one means and what it stands for, and everyone uses them everyday. And if you listened carefully, I've given you the third word. Why can't I find the third one?"

Blogging for Search Engine Recognition and Rankings

Another benefit that you can derive from blogging is an increase and enhancement of both your search engine recognition and rankings. Indeed, this is one of the clear benefits that continues to draw an ever growing number of business enterprises into using blogging as a means of business enterprise enhancement.

One simply methodology you can employ is to actually incorporate your blogging efforts, your blog itself, into your business enterprise website. After taking this step, you can then incorporate into your blogging appropriate dispersed keywords that will attract the attention of search engine and that will increase the rankings of your business website on search engine results.

Of course, many people worry that they cannot attract enough traffic to a blog that is tied into a website. In other words, these business owners have come to believe that having a blog at a popular blogging location on the Net rather than at the website of the business enterprise itself can be more beneficial. You need to keep this in mind when you are considering the location and structure of your own blogging efforts in support of your Internet business enterprise.

If that is the case, you can still infuse your blog with appropriate keywords relating to your business enterprise and the products or services that you are offering. Once you attract traffic to your blog, you can then include backlinks to your business website throughout your blog. Although this two step process may seem a bit cumbersome, it is proving itself to be well effective in the enhancement of an online business enterprise in this day and age.

Exploring Search Engine Optimization

The process that is aimed at improving a website's ranking among search results on leading search engines is often referred to as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This may be targeted at vertical search that is specific to an industry, local search or image search, among others.

The efforts aimed at SEO include ensuring that the search engines can index the content of the site easily and that the content that is uploaded is unique and highly relevant. The search engine robots should be able to access the site fully and any problems that are likely to prevent these from doing so should be removed. The site's structure and coding might have to be looked at, for this purpose. Improving the presentation of the site could also make it more appealing for the users. Other methods, which are not approved of by search engines, are called spamdexing and include techniques such as reciprocal linking and stuffing the site with keywords that are likely to attract the desired type of visitors.

Since the source code of the website often has to be modified suitably for SEO, techniques for optimization can form a part of the design and development of a website. Therefore, companies offering such services offer SEO services as well, nowadays. Those shopping carts, site designs, systems for the management of content and menus that are fairly simple from the point of view of optimization, may be described as friendly towards SEO.

Ensuring that sites get listed on search engines:

Although it is not possible to guarantee the ranks that the owners of a site may wish to specify, certain search engines operate programs that ensure that the site will be indexed in return for a certain amount of money. Otherwise, the sites have to be submitted manually for crawling. Whether or not a page is to be indexed may depend upon a variety of factors, including how far away a page is located from the root directory. However, some sites allow the submission of XML feeds that aid the discovery of those pages that cannot be accessed by following links automatically.

The programs that guarantee inclusion in lieu of payment have attracted a considerable amount of criticism, of late.

Preventing specific content from getting listed:

A text file in the domain's root directory can be utilized for preventing specific directories or files from being crawled by the search engines' spiders, by the site's webmaster. Meta tags can also be used for this purpose.

Pages that are specific to logging in and that have content that is specific to users are generally the ones that are not to be crawled by the search engines.

Legitimate versus illegitimate techniques:

As mentioned earlier, the SEO techniques whose effects the search engines try to minimize are known as spamdexing. On the other hand, those techniques that are recommended by search engines are considered significant towards ensuring excellent rankings for the website in the long run. As and when the sites that employ spamdexing are found to be doing so by the search engines, these are excluded from the databases and banned.

The legitimate techniques, or those that are in accordance with the guidelines followed by search engines, are free from deception. This implies that the content that a user accesses on the website is the same as that indexed by the search engine.

Therefore, to summarize, these techniques seek not to create content aimed at search engines, but to create content aimed at providing maximum utility to those who visit the website and then making this content easily accessible to them, through SEO.

The illegitimate techniques include designing different pages for search engines and for human visitors, besides including text that is visible to the search engines and not to the human visitors, among other methods.

Marketing through search engine optimization:

SEO may not be the best tool for achieving the marketing goals for a website and may have to be combined with other tools, techniques and strategies, in order to attain success. However, something it can definitely do is to help increase the number of visitors i.e. bring about an increase in traffic and, if properly done, traffic of good quality, as well. Since people are known to scan web pages, including those containing search results, downwards from the top and from the left towards the right, it is obvious that placement among the highest ranked search results can dramatically increase the number of people that are likely to visit the website.
