The value of incoming links to a website can be almost incalculable. They assist in generating traffic, Google PageRank and can even help with search ranking and revenue generation. The problem most publishers run into is figuring out how to get these links placed.
The reality is there are a variety of good methods that can be used to generate incoming links. Some methods work a little better than other options, but they can all help increase traffic in their own way.
Reciprocal linking is one method that many publishers employ. This simply involves putting another site's link up on your page and giving them yours to do the same with. This can be done manually through e-mail conversations or there are even services that can help.
Services that specialize in reciprocal links offer all types of options. Some services offer a fully automated plan that puts your links up on other sites and puts others on yours. Other services hook up publishers to arrange for link swaps and there are even companies that continue to track links after they've been placed to ensure they remain active. Which one of the linking services is the best really hinges on what a publisher is looking for and how much effort they want to put into the process of generating reciprocal links.
Swapping services can very much help to increase incoming links. They have a propensity to drop the ball a bit. Many of these service simply do not check to make sure links are in places where they can be easily found. There are many reports out there about links that exist on pages that cannot be jumped to from sites' home pages and so on. A link lost in the ether won't help a site boost traffic. To avoid this, it is often recommended that publishers check their links involved in exchanges. If they have lousy placement, contact the publisher of the offending site. If no action is taken, just remove their link from yours.
When it comes to increasing traffic and rankings, reciprocal links can help. It is not, however, the only game going. There are many other options publishers can try to increase the number of incoming links their sites enjoy. Perhaps the most solid route to take is creating good, old fashion content. The more engaging, balanced, interesting or even funny the content, the better. The notion here is to actually build a site that's useful so others really want to link to it.
Creating content that is high quality and has purpose is the ultimate key to gaining incoming links. It doesn't matter whether the content is a funny cartoon series, news articles, rants or even reviews, if it's of decent quality and visitors don't feel like they've wasted their time reading or viewing it, natural links are likely to come all on their own. Do make sure content is SEO optimized in key spots, such as the title. Don't go overboard with keyword stuffing though.
Publishers have many other ways to go beyond straight content to boost links. Things like hiring others to write about one's site, posting on forums with URL signatures attached, running contests and more can all help. The trick is to be creative and think outside of the box.
When it comes to generating incoming links, there's more than one way to skin a cat. Exchange programs can help, but they shouldn't be the only tool used.

Latent Semantic Indexing Explained
There's a new game in town when it comes to how websites can gain search engine attention. The old ways of keyword stuffing, using single phrases to optimize and concentrating heavily on incoming links are fading away as a newer, more holistic system for judging content comes into its own. This system is Latent Semantic Indexing and it has webmasters scrambling to keep up.
Google is behind the creation of latent semantic indexing. This system, which basically means hidden meaning indexing, was designed to enable the search engine to better scan pages for their overall themes. It boils down to being a system that offers a more sophisticated way for the search engine to measure sites for their relevance in regard to individual searches. While latent semantic indexing doesn't require a complete redo of websites, it does mean that webmasters who focus on high quality content are more likely to get ahead.
Latent semantic indexing is an advancement of Google's designed to push it towards its mission to make its search results more relevant. The company has always stated it wanted to provide high quality, relevant results. Latent semantic indexing is meant to help make this happen. While Google's original system scanned pages for relevancy in regard to keywords, it also put a very heavy reliance on incoming links. The system overlooked sites that were new or had too much content added too quickly. Unfortunately, in the process of trying to weed out sites that were loaded with keyword stuffed, nonsensical content, the system overlooked good ones, too.
Google wanted a better way, and it was found. Latent semantic indexing is meant to scan the overall theme of a site so as not to penalize those sites that have fresh, relevant and good content even if they do happen to pop up over night.
Under latent semantic indexing, sites that want to gain ranking need to make sure they have content that's fresh, updated, keyword rich and relevant. The system is meant to give those who use keyword searches pages that better represent what it is they were looking for instead of those that happen to have bunches of incoming links. All in all, the system is a more fair way of measuring what's on the Internet in regard to relevancy and quality. It also fits Google's mission better.
The old days of Google putting 80 percent of its emphasis on incoming links and 20 percent on the actual site itself are coming to an end. Incoming links will always have relevance, especially in regard to breaking search "ties," but they may not carry the same weight as before. This can make it a bit easier for those who work on their sites with an emphasis on quality to see real results.
What all of this means to web publishers is that those who have done and continue to do their jobs correctly will have a better chance of shining with latent semantic indexing. Those who keyword stuff, create nonsensical content and spend a lot of time using link farms likely will not.
The key to getting ahead in the new age of Google search falls on quality. Sites that provide useful and relevant information in regard to their content will be likely to do better on searches. Those that cut corners could find themselves at the bottom of the search totem pole.

Latent Semantic Indexing Changes The Face Of Optimization
There's a new system that's shaking up how websites garner search engine ranking. The former quick ways of keyword stuffing, link farming and so on are no longer the best route to go. Latent Semantic Indexing is changing the way searches happen. As a result, this new system is also altering the necessary strategies for getting traffic and ranking.
The history of latent semantic indexing is a continuation of Google's mission to make its search engine produce relevant, high-quality results. The initial ranking system relied heavily on incoming links and keywords alone to scan pages for their relevancy in regard to searches. Unfortunately, this system had a propensity to penalize some very good and relevant sites. It would overlook sites that were too new or added content too quickly. Although there are plenty of new sites that aren't necessarily loaded with good content, some are.
The old way wasn't working, so Google sought out to fix it. Latent semantic indexing was the answer. While a lot of the old measures do matter (i.e. incoming links), they don't as much with latent semantic indexing.
This new focus puts an emphasis on quality and freshness of content to help sites gain ranking position. In essence, latent semantic indexing is meant to give a search the best possible site to meet their needs based on relevant keywords and comprehensive coverage and not just incoming links. This system basically presents a more fair way to give search engine users the pages they really want. It does what Google has always tried to do - provide higher quality, more relevant results.
The days of Google placing a bigger emphasis on incoming links or votes to rank sites for searches are coming to a close. Although incoming links will still be important, particularly if two sites tie on a search, these links don't carry the same weight. This simply makes it easier for webmasters who do their jobs well to gain opportunity for ranking.
What all of this means to web publishers is that those who have done and continue to do their jobs correctly will have a better chance of shining with latent semantic indexing. Those who keyword stuff, create nonsensical content and spend a lot of time using link farms likely will not.
The real key to getting ahead with latent semantic indexing is to produce useful pages that follow themes and stick to them. Webmasters that do this will likely rank better on searches. Sites that don't, might have some issues to contend with.

Triple your website traffic in 30 days.
So you want to triple your traffic? Actually I used these techniques to rocket my website from 80 uniques a day to 800 in just a month. I purposely reduced my claims in this article because I like to under-promise and over-deliver.
Would you like to legitimately multiply the number of webpages on your by 9 and get about 3x your traffic overnight? (well not quite because the search engines take a few days to index the new pages) Just search for "translation script" in google and you will find a free one you can easily install. There are also paid ones too. I used a free translation script without a problem. I found this increased my traffic by 3x once the translated pages were indexed. I also found visitors from other languages seemed to be quite happy to click on my ads!
Get some incoming links that search engines value. Search engines are currently evaluating social bookmarking sites highly. Now if you have tried social bookmarking, you know that you will get a sudden boost in traffic but it drops off after a few weeks. Your problem is that you have been going to the wrong social bookmarking sites. Most social bookmarking sites use a NOFOLLOW tag rendering the link useless from a search engine standpoint. You see the secret is to go to sites like searchallinone.com where you can help yourself to free PR6 links. I personally know the owner of searchallinone and he doesn't mind if you signup a few times and vote for yourself! I have found it takes 5 votes to make the homepage. . Here is a list of sites giving away real links: . searchallinone.com tagne.ws clipmarks.com corank.com searchles.com clipclip.org marktd.com mister-wong.de plugim.com riffs.com butterflyproject.nl Uvouch.com www.rawsugar.com www.barksbookmarks.com www.clipfire.com linkarena.com yigg.de unrumor.com
Write some articles about your site's subject and submit them to article directories. You can do it manually or buy some software to do it but I recently found a service that has saved me hundreds of hours because they create the accounts at each for you! The software I bought never worked for me because it was always out of date. This site is a monthly subscription type service but well worth the money because they continually maintain their system to make sure all the submissions are being accepted. Let me say it again. They create the user ID for you! Anyone who has travelled this road knows this is one of the most painful part of submissions. Oh and the most important feature of all. They make every article you submit unique and completely human readable. This drives webmasters wild because they always want unique content. They submit to 741 article repositories as of this writing and are adding all the time. This is probably the most powerful technique out there today. Oh, I almost forgot, their article creation wizard shows you how to create articles that will drive traffic to your website, and go after long tail search phrases first, etc. (If you don't understand what I have wrote just go ahead and try it for yourself. You'll thank me I assure you.) Their signup is here: articlewiz.radpages.com

What if you could triple your website traffic in just 30 days?
Every webmaster wants more traffic. What ever you are promoting will do much better with 3x the traffic. I want you to know that I personally use these techniques and have actually got better results than the title would indicate. In fact, my site went from 80 unique visitors a day to over 800!
Its no secret. More indexed pages = more traffic. I was able to triple my traffic in a week (the time it took for the search engines to include the newly translated pages). Someone once told me this was a blackhat technique, but that is ridiculous since it is only good customer service to offer your website in all the languages possible. To find a free translation script just search in google for "translation script".
You need links to rank highly in the search engines. The search engines have changed their algorithms but you still need links. One of the most powerful ways to get links and instant traffic is through social bookmarking sites. You might have heard of digg and others. If you tried using them you may have discovered you got a boost of traffic for a week or two which then trailed off. That is the nature of these types of sites, but that is NOT what I am suggesting you do here. Digg and the other big sites do NOT give you real links. They give you links with a NOFOLLOW tag which tells the search engine to ignore them for all purposes you care about. What if I was to show you a way to help yourself to a real PR6 link? Visit searchallinone.com and post an article. Signup with 5 different ID's and vote for your article 5x and presto you have a link from a PR6 page. What I have found more powerful though, is that your article also gets its own page and often ranks in the top 10 for the title in about 3 days. Now you have succeeded in getting a top 10 placement without even getting your website to the top of the engines, and you even got several valid links (PR6 homepage + a link from every tag page + a custom page with your posting on it). Nice. Now what if I was to give you a list of lots more sites like that. Here they are: . searchallinone.com tagne.ws clipmarks.com corank.com searchles.com clipclip.org marktd.com mister-wong.de plugim.com riffs.com butterflyproject.nl Uvouch.com www.rawsugar.com www.barksbookmarks.com www.clipfire.com linkarena.com yigg.de unrumor.com . Don't believe me? Just try this. Create an article on your website. Post it to searchallinone.com and all the others on the list above. Wait 3 days. Now go to google and type in the title. You might be surprised that you now dominate the top 10 listings for that title (unless it is competitive of course - try this using at least a 5 or 6 longtail keyword type title first).
I am sure you have heard of article submissions before and how they can get you a lot of backlinks. And if you have done it, you may have discovered its a lot of work because you have to submit your article to hundreds of article directories. You have probably even searched out software to help you and found it is no good because the signups change on the article sites and the software maker doesn't bother updating the software. In addition, you have to create an ID on every article directory. Well I have bad news and better news. Good News: This technique works fantastically. Better News: I recently stumbled upon a service that does this for you but with a twist. Every article submitted is unique! To a webmaster this is pure gold. Webmasters always want unique content. The articles aren't rubbish either. They don't do it by replacing phrases or words making the text unreadable. Its a monthly service, so they keep all their interfaces with the article sites up to date. To date they send your article to 741 sites! Ok, now get this, they create the ID's to submit the articles for you! So all you do is write the article and get hundreds of backlinks. This service actually works. In fact this article you are reading is done on that system! Here is their signup page: articlewiz.radpages.com . The fact that you are reading this means that you are lucky. I consider the above technique so powerful I almost removed it from this article.

The Top 10 Tools For Monitoring The Success Of Your Website
1 Google Analytics
Google Analytics has become the preferred option among frëe statistics programs. Like any other stats program, Google Analytics provides data on the number of visitors, and page views, referral sources, entry and exit pages, and more. Unlike most other programs, Google Analytics includes the ability to track and monitor pay-per-clÃck (PPC) campaigns. Other useful information includes the geographic location of your visitors, their internet connection speed, and their screen resolutions. You can sign up for Google Analytics at:
2 Google Webmaster Tools
Want to know how the largest search engine in the world sees your website? Google's Webmaster Tools will give you loads of information such as the pages that are indexed, errors found by the Googlebot (dead links), your search engine rankings for specific search phrases, your anchor text on inbound links, internal and external link data, and robots.txt and sitemap data.
By knowing how Google sees your site you will find some basic items that you'll need to change in order to reach your maximum potential in search engine traffÃc. You can sign up for Google Webmaster Tools at:
3 SEOmoz's Page Strength Tool
SEOmoz is one of the leading search engine optimization (SEO) firms and their website provides a wealth of information through their blog, articles and tools. Their Page Strength Tool shows you the "relative importance and visibility" and the "potential strength and ability of a page to rank in the search engines." SEOmoz provides a quick way to get a basic look at the strength of your page. The Page Strength Tool can be used at:
4 Sitening.com's SEO Analyzer
Sitening is another leading SEO firm with several valuable tools on their website. The SEO Analyzer differs from SEOmoz's Page Strength Tool in that it checks the internal structure of your site to determine how well it is constructed (in terms of search engine optimization). The structure of a website is the framework for a good SEO campaign, and Sitening.com's SEO Analyzer will help you to build the right framework. Sitening.com's SEO Analyzer can be found at:
5 Mike's Marketing Tools
MikesMarketingTools.com has two tools that every webmaster should use regularly. The Search Engine Rankings Tool will show you where your site ranks in several of the top search engines for a specific word or phrase. You can save time by using this tool instead of visiting each search engine and clicking through the search engine results pages to find your website.
The Link Popularity Tool will quickly show you how many inbound links each search engine recognizes for your site. Inbound links are a major factor in search engine rankings and each search engine recognizes a different number of links. From this tool you can also clÃck through to see the specific pages that are linking to you. To use these tools visit:
6 Summit Media's Spider Simulator
The spider simulator shows you "how a search engine reacts to your pages and what can be done to boost your usability." Search engine spiders see web pages much differently than human visitors do. A page may look attractive and well-designed to a human visitor, but a search engine spider may not be able to find what it is looking for. This page is a great tool to assure you that your site is built for maximum search engine results. The spider simulator can be used at:
7 SelfSEO Page Speed Checker
Your average website visitor will have a very short attention span. To have the best chance of making a positive first impression on new visitors your page must load quickly enough that they do not leave right away. SelfSEO has a Page Speed Tool that shows you how long your page takes to load. The tool allows you to enter multiple pages to chëck at one time. It is a good idea to compare the load time of your page against pages from several other websites. Try entering your homepage and the homepage of several of your competitors. If your page loads considerably slower than the others, try to make the file smaller by reducing the number and size of images or by cleaning up the coding. The Page Speed Tool can be used at:
8 Dead Links Checker
Having dead links on your website can frustrate visitors and damage your search engine rankings. However, checking all the links on your site manually is not realistic. Fortunately there are a number of tools online that will automate the process. The W3 Link Checker will crawl through your pages and report which links are broken. To use this tool visit:
9 GoogleRankings.com
GoogleRankings.com will show you which words and phrases appear most frequently on your website throughout the text of the page, title, headings and meta tags. This is a useful tool to be certain that your pages are optimized for the words and phrases that you are targeting.
10 FeedBurner
If you publish a blog, FeedBurner's service is a must have.
6 Summit Media's Spider Simulator
The spider simulator shows you "how a search engine reacts to your pages and what can be done to boost your usability." Search engine spiders see web pages much differently than human visitors do.

Google PR Explained
PR is a measure of how ‘important’ a page is (according to Google). For the purpose of this article, I will only discuss PR in the SEO context – what it means and how to use it. First things first: PR is not the cause or the result of high rankings. PR depends mainly on 2 things: Incoming links and traffic. Some SEOs make the mistake of assuming high rankings come as a result of high PR, when in fact high PR is one natural outcome of high rankings. Better SEO = higher rankings = more traffic = Higher PR However, the concept behind Google’s PR is crucial when working with External Links (i.e.: incoming) and Internal Links (i.e.: the website’s structure). Every link from A to B is considered as a ‘vote of confidence/credibility’ from A to B. We can use PR as a physical measurement of how this credibility travels from one URL to the next. The role of SEO in this case is…
1. Off-site: to maximise incoming PR by increasing the number of incoming links and the quality of incoming links.
2. On-site: to harness incoming PR so that none of it is wasted (on broken links) and that most of it is channelled to the most important pages of the website (i.e.: the homepage, main category pages)
To sum up, PR isn’t a factor in SEO, neither is it a direct result of SEO. But the makings of a high-PR website are very similar to those of a high-ranking website. And because of that, the concept of PR can be used to...
* properly apply linking techniques
* measure the effectiveness of these techniques
