SEO and DSO (Dating-Self-Optimization)

You have probably heard or read about SEO or Search Engine Optimization, to be clear. This is a name given to tweaking and building a website's interaction and place on the Internet, so that the big information retrieval applications like Google, Yahoo and MSN could give a website a credential to be on top for queries that matter. And in this respect there are few known factors, which could be worked on to make a particular website rank higher for all the hot keywords. And among these are playing with keyword density of a page, quality and quantity of back links and content size are to be noted.

For any online or off line dating or relationships to work you have to optimize your self or higher someone who can do that for you. Dating-self-optimization (DSO) works on the rules of SEO. The only difference is YOU are by yourself a search engine and a website and it's hard to come up which factors determine the usefulness of a dating partner or which can make him/her get banned from being listed on your search engine. But to give meaning to my own creation called DSO (Dating-self-optimization) and to set rules on how to go about it I'll use the three factors mentioned above which are used to optimize a website.

1. Selecting Key Words.

Selecting keywords and incorporating them in a website content can mean a lot of things to a webmaster or an SEO expert. For instance, if the website that's being optimized falls under the online dating industry, then selecting and targeting keywords which give meaning to any single who wants to date online and who would pass queries to a search engine should be the number one priority. In short it tells the search engines when to incorporate the page in their search results page. Now lets apply this rule to online dating or dating in general.

For any kind of dating relationship knowing your partner is crucial. And to get to know each other you've to tell about yourself in words or writing. So here you should apply key word selection. In order to get precedence over higher placement in your dating partners mind (you can call it Search Engine) you should incorporate some distinct but highly valuable keywords in your profile or self-presentation. You shouldn't tell lies, swear too much, talk about your ex and things like that in order to rank higher in the search result positive things rather than utterly negative ones. This is called first impression in most cases. And remember people always remember first impressions.

Selecting and including words that have a sense of humor is most definitely a plus in any relationship minded search engines residing in singles minds.

2. Creating A Unique And Not Duplicate Content.

Now that you have selected key words the next step is to create as much content as possible using those key words you've selected. If you happen to have a website you'd definitely know what this means. The more content you come up with the more trusted source of information becomes your website.

But coming up with a lot of content wouldn't be enough either. The content should be Unique. And believe it or not this rule holds firm when it comes to dating or relationship. To avoid duplication all you have to do is to be open and be your self, really.

And another crucial thing to remember is not to get into desperation. Duplicate content are rife online because of desperation. Avoid desperation and your dating or relationship content would be as UNIQUE as it can be.

3. Quality and Quantity of Backlinks.

In order to get higher placement and to be eligible of appearing higher on search results the quality and quantity of backlink to is crucial for any given website. And in this theory a one way link gives more quality to a website than a two way link.

What does this mean in the dating arena, you'd say? The more you become cheerful and fun to be around the more you'll attract quality singles of the opposite sex. The more you become open, the more you exude a vibe that's sure to get you noticed and worthy of thinking about. This way your backlink quality and quantity will grow, giving you more chance of meeting the right person to date and along the way amass a lasting friendship with as many people.

To learn more on how to optimize your self for dating or relationship, start using online dating. And believe me you don't want to learn this by scoffing $50.00 every month. Rather you'd start by joining a free online dating site.

So go start DSO'ing your self, will you?

How to Quickly Get Your Online Website Noticed

Getting a online website noticed is an art , so patience is necessary on the way. A lot of people think they can build a website and at that very moment have a good amount of traffic for it. What they ignore however is the simple fact that they are not the only ones in their field who run a website, there are also millions of competitors who owns a website and the number of them are growing constantly. At this light, what is the faster way to expose a new online website?

If you have the money, paid advertising is one of the most efficient ways to get your online website noticed quickly. All you are doing is paying for a spot towards the top of a search engine or a spot on someone's website. It may cost you a lot of money to get a higher spot, however the reward will most probably surpass the intitial cost.

Finding high traffic websites to advertise on can help you get your online business noticed as well. The thing with advertising on a high traffic website is that there are thousands of people that will see your advertisement a day. Certainly not everybody will click on your ad, or even half of them because it is there. but even if a very few percent of people click on your ad, let's say 5%, that is a significant amount of traffic that you will receive for your website.

Email, direct emails and bulk emails can be effective in getting your online website noticed as well. The key factor to this method is doing something to make your email stand out. Every day people are flooded with spam and email that is a waste of their time. If you can come up with a way to grab the reader's attention right from the subject line, you will have already surpassed a number of your competitors.

Similar to paid advertising is Google adwords. Google adwords are seen by thousands of people every day and if you can come up with a creative ad campaign, your online business will catch the reader's eye and gain exposure. With Google adwords, every click you get is costing you money, so make sure that your ad is worth the investment.

If you can't afford buying Google adwords, you can reach the top of search engines with no money as well, however you will need to much more patient. By using keyword optimization throughout your online website and in all of the articles you write and submit, you can climb up on the search engines for those specific keywords.

The idea is to get your website displayed on first page for a targeted keyword on the the major search engines, which can be really tough. In order to increase your chance, target for smaller and less popular keywords as contrast to very popular keywords. For instance, instead of targeting work at home. maybe go for legit work at home, work at home online or best work at home business.

While it is extremely difficult to get your online website noticed quickly, you can better your chances by combining all of the methods listed above. The more methods you are using and promoting your website, the more places your website will be seen by a large number of people. As long as you are patient about the process, your online business will eventually become noticed through the crowd of millions of websites.

How To Get Listed In Google's Search In 24 - 48 hrs

Here is a little experiment with some very interesting results I did to see if I could get listed in Googles search engine in under 48 hours, best of all for FREE.

Step 1. First you will need a good keyword. Pick something that you feel you could easily find content for on the internet, which is just about anything.

Step 2. Do a little research on google to see how many people have relative content for that keywood showing up in the listings. For example if you choose "Game Copy Software" you will notice in the upper right hand side of the search results about 33,800,000 pages found for that keyword combination. Thats a pretty competative combination. Try several untill you can get the results down to about 10 -20 thousand without having to use more than 3 or 4 keywords in your combination. As an example I chose "Celebrity Coochie Pop". I know it sounds weird but hay it worked.

Step 3. I set up a blogger blog, for FREE I might add, then found some recent and relative pictures on the web and added them to my new blogger site at celebrity-coochie-pop.bloggerspot.com.

Step 4. You will want to add a widget on the side bar, I recommend to use the new feature called "Newsreel". I typed in "celebrity gossip" and added it to the side bar which will show current information on that particular search topic so you now have some current and ever-changing content on your new blogger site.

Step 5. Add a few more widgets to your side bar which there are plenty to choose from in blogger called "add a page element" like, pictures, video, lists, link, and yes even Adsense plus a whole lot more and you pretty much have a good start.

Step 6. Here is the best part. Go to Spicy Page and join, yes its FREE too, add your new blogger site to their listings. Once again this all FREE to set up.

Step 7. Sit back with a cup of coffee and wait. Within about 24 - 48 hours. I had the number 4 spot listed in google with the search term "Coochie Pop", and "Celebrity Coochie" in 48 hours after submission.

Im sure anyone wanting to test this experimant can find a better keyword than I did, but the concept is still the same. I plan to experiment a little further so if you decide to do a search result on google you may find my site has moved around in the ranks a bit. Either way I would be interested in your comments and results on any tests you try.

Have fun and hope this helps spark some interest in blogger which is a great program. You can find any NEW information on my results of this test at my blog site internetrippoffs.blogspot.com

Good Luck

Reasons of Crime

Crime is the wrong against society. These wrongs are generally classified into two kinds:

i) Mala in se: Acts morally wrong or offences against conscious i.e. Murder, rape etc.
ii) Mala in prohibita: Acts or omissions, which are made criminal by statute but which themselves are not criminal.

In public thought the word ‘criminal’ is generally applied only to those who are ostracized by the society. It is in this sense that Tarde stated that criminals are “social excrement”.

In our traditional criminal law, a criminal is one who in the past, generally with evil intentions, committed an act made punishable by law. From the social viewpoint, we are more concerned to protect society against future acts than to requite the criminal for past acts. The concern is not with past wickedness but rather with possible future dangerousness.

According to Elmer Hubert Johnson, “crime is an act which the group (society) regards as sufficiently menacing to its fundamental interests, to justify formal reaction to restrain the violator”.

In Oxford Companion to Law, crime has been defined as “an act done in violation of those duties which an individual owes to the community and for the breach of which the law has provided that the offender shall satisfy the public”.

According to Islamic philosophy, every act is crime, which leads to minutest violation of prescribed patterns of Muslim Society, whereas that done in violation of the injunctions of Holy Quran and Sunnah has been described as sin, of which mankind will be made accountable only on the day of Judgment. In this sense, Islamic view is also bent towards social definition.

The statement that we would have no crime if we had no criminal laws and that we could eliminate all crime merely by abolishing all criminal laws is logomachy. It is true that if the laws against stealing were repealed, stealing would not be a crime, but it would still be offensive and the public would react to it by lynch law and public disgrace. The name of the behaviour would be changed but the behaviour and the societal reaction to the behaviour would remain essentially unchanged.

Durkheim (French Sociologist) said even a society composed of persons possessing angelic qualities would not be free from violations of the norms of that society. He asserted that enforcement of public morality is necessary for social solidarity, which is symbolized by penal law. The fact remains that crime is a phenomenon, which is of primary concern to every member of the human society.

VARIOUS APPROACHES TOWARDS EXPLANATION OF CRIME

By an approach to the study of crime, we mean, presumably, a hypothesis with reference to its causation, which leads to the use of appropriate scientific disciplines. Approaches in this sense have been divided into two general types, the subjective and the objective. These two general approaches cannot be separated. Both the nature of the personality and the nature of the situation past and present to which it is exposed are always involved in any possible explanation of crime. However, multiple-factor approach combines both the above approaches wherever they are pertinent. It sees crime as the result of varying combinations of influences.

There is also social control approach which embodied ‘social control theories’ which in contrast to the aforesaid approaches that make delinquents essentially and fundamentally different from non-delinquents; emphasize that weakness of social controls results in delinquency.

I. Subjective Approach (Individualistic Approach)

Subjective approaches analyze motives and examine the nature of the criminal and the various aspects of his personality. The use of the word ‘subjective’ may create an impression that personal speculation or opinion of the investigator of causation is involved. We may distinguish as subjective approaches, the physical or anthropological, the medical, the biological, the physiological and the psychological, psychiatric and psychoanalytical.

1. ANTHROPOLOGICAL (PHYSICAL) APPROACH

The anthropological approach is illustrated by the work of Lombroso and Goring and the current research of Professor Hootan of Harvard. It attempts to discover, whether the criminal is significantly different in his physical structure from the non-criminal.

Physiognomists were among the earliest, who made speculations regarding a direct relationship between the appearance and criminal propensities of human beings. An interesting example of the early period is of Aristotle who was examined by a Greek Physiognomist who allegedly found indications of a ruthless personality and an inclination to be alcoholic.

Phrenology was one step forward in the same direction. It was an attempt to find meaningful correlation between the skull, the brain and the social behaviour. By the 18th century, physiognomy, the study of facial features and phrenology, the study of external conformation of the cranium, developed almost as disciplines.

Any discussion of the development of modern criminological thinking must commence with reference to Cesare Bonesana, Marchese de Beccaria (1738-1794) belonging to Classical School. The writings of Montesquieu, Hume, Bacon and Rousseau had a great liberalizing effect on him. His famous work “Essays on Crimes and Punishments” was received extremely well all over Europe and proved a great stimulant to criminological thinking in the contemporary West. In his urge for detection of the sources from which these crimes sprang, he was in fact raising a fundamental question as to why certain types of crimes were committed and this was despite the fact that Beccaria belonged to the school of free-will theory.

On account of the good work done by Beccaria, interest grew towards crime and the criminal, resulting in the appearance of the neo-classical school by the middle of the 19th century. This school was responsible for emphasizing that the mental element ought not to be ignored while dealing with certain types of offenders.

The stage was now well set for the advent of the Positive School of Italy which focused its attention on the personality of the offender and rejected the free-will theory. The school owes its origin to the contribution of Cesare Lombroso (1836-1909), who was regarded as the father of modern criminology since he was the first to employ scientific methods in explaining criminal behaviour and shifted the emphasis from crime to criminal. His experiences prompted him to believe that criminals were different physically from normal persons and had physical characteristics of savages and inferior animals. This throwback or atavism in the criminal represented the punitive and savage qualities of the remote ancestors of human beings. According to Lombroso, such atavistic physical stigma is disclosed by a low forehead, receding chin, ears standing out from the head, too many fingers, abundance of wrinkles, a typical size or shape of the head and peculiarities of the eyes. The criminals in whom the atavistic qualities were disclosed were termed ‘born-criminals’ who committed crimes because of mental conditions like general paralysis, dementia, pellagra, alcoholism, epilepsy, idiocy, or hysteria. Subsequently, Lombroso did take into account certain circumstances, which can make an otherwise normal person, a criminal. This type of criminal he termed “criminaloid”, a person who commits criminal and vicious acts under certain circumstances despite the absence of physical stigmata or mental aberrations.

Lombroso’s theories have been severely criticized by modern criminologists. It has been pointed out that he used the term atavism loosely since physical traits of the criminals as well as social customs were regarded by him as of atavistic significance. His assumption regarding some sort of nexus between atavism and criminal behaviour has no scientific base. He also failed to appreciate that both criminal as well as non-criminal behaviours were the result of the same process operating on the basis of various social and physical factors.

According to Gabriel Tarde, one of the many critics of Lombroso, crime being of social origin is of changing nature i.e. it depends upon social definitions and cannot be explained with reference to atavism. Moreover, according to Tarde, Lombroso’s theory did not explain the lower rate of criminality among women having the same stigmata.

Lombroso has also been criticized for his anthropometric measurements on which he formulated his theories of criminal behaviour. Some of the more important criticisms are:

i) His approach assumed individual physique as something fixed and not prone to changes. He did not take into consideration the morbid process affecting the human physique.

ii) For actual measurement of his subjects, he depended on others and thus created doubt regarding the reliability of the data employed by him.

iii) Sophisticated statistical techniques, developed subsequently were not available to Lombroso, which proved his analysis to be highly deficient.

iv) Lombroso had no control groups and was, therefore, unable to compare the so-called characteristics of criminals with those of non-criminals.
v) The data did not cover sufficient numbers and it could not, therefore, be regarded as truly representative of the relevant groups.

vi) He did not take into account the racial and ethnical differences among the members of his samples and treated them as homogenous which was not always the case.

Because of his pioneering work dealing with the personality of criminals, Lombroso has been designated as putative father of modern criminology and it is not surprising that Lombroso has been praised as well as criticized extensively for his theories to explain criminal behaviour. Critics like Lindesmith and Levin believe, however, that he, because of his faulty assumptions, hindered the progress of scientific criminology.

Ferri, the second among the three major positivists, is closer to the contemporary line of thinking since apart from anthropological factor, he also took into account geographical, psychological and economic factor while explaining criminal conduct. He classified criminals into following five categories:

i) Insane criminals
ii) Born criminals
iii) Habitual criminals
iv) Criminals by passion; and
v) Occasional criminals

The first category is of those who act criminally due to congenital reasons. The habitual criminal, though showing atavistic tendencies, is also influenced by social and physical environments. Criminals by passion are otherwise fit but commit the criminal act due to impulse, anger or jealousy and feel repentant subsequently. Regarding punishment of offenders, Ferri is of the view that the choice of means of social defence would be different for the different classes of offenders. In the case of imprisonment, he was of the view that indefinite periods should be prescribed keeping in view the potential harm the person is capable of and the chances of his readjustment in the society. Indeterminate sentences, with maximum period limits, now prevalent in the USA and some other countries represent the same philosophy.

Garofalo, in his major treatise known as Criminology divided criminals into following four classes:

i) Endemic: Murderers who commit offences or crimes out of passion.

ii) Criminals deficient in probity: Thieves

iii) Lascivious Criminals: Criminals who perpetrate crimes against chastity; and

iv) Violent Criminals: Affected by such environmental influences as prejudices of honour, politics and religion.
Garofalo was quite skeptical about the reform of criminals. He was greatly influenced by social Darwinism in his attitude towards criminals. As in nature, so it is in society, only the fittest have the right to survive. He, therefore, favoured death as the most efficient means of eliminating criminals. He realized however, that public opinion would not support death penalty except in case of murder. He therefore, recommended imprisonment and transportation in cases other than of murder and was of the opinion that criminals ought to make good through money payments, the material and moral damage caused by their crimes.

Lombroso’s theories received a severe jolt as a result of the studies made by Charles Goring, which revealed that there was no significant difference between the physical characteristics of criminals and non-criminals and also among criminals of different kinds. This was stated by Goring in The English Convict (1913) a statistical study in which he compared measurements of 37 specific physical characteristics of some 3,000 English recidivist prisoners with similar measurements of university students, hospital patients and members of the British Army.

The Modern Crimino-biological School originated in the third decade of the present century in certain countries of Europe also influenced some criminologists in the USA and sought to revive the discredited theories based on physical types. Its exaggerated claims of the relationship between criminality and certain physical traits had the blessings of the totalitarian regimes of these countries since it was in consonance with some of their notions of ‘racial superiority’. Ernest Kretschmer, the famous German psychiatrist, classified the major constitutional types as leptosome or asthenic type, the athletic type and the pyknic type; the three types showing different behaviour.

Eavert A. Hootan, as a result of the study of 14,000 male criminals in various American States concluded:

“Criminals are organically inferior. Crime is the resultant of the impact of environment upon low grade human organism”

According to him, low sloping foreheads, thin lips, compressed jaw angles, straight hair, thin beard and body hair and thick hair on the head characterized criminals. Hootan, however, failed to demonstrate as to why he regarded these traits as ‘organically inferior’. He also tried to establish some nexus between the physical characteristics of the offenders and the type of offences committed by them. His study disclosed that murderers and robbers were of tall and thin stature, thieves and burglars were undersized, while sexual offences and assaults were committed by persons of short and heavy constitution. However, George B. Vold, in his Theoretical Criminology contradicted such a nexus by pointing out that half of the prisoners studied by Hootan were convicted of different offences earlier.

Another notable effort to connect criminal tendencies with certain physical traits was made by William H. Sheldon. He classified the human constitution into following three types, out of which he found the delinquent to be predominantly mesomorphic.

i) Endomorphic: This type is represented by round, soft, fat bodies with short tapering limbs and small bones.

ii) Mesomorphic: muscular bodies with large trunk, heavy chest, large wrists and hands and heavy bones represent this type.

iii) Ectomorphic: lean and delicate bodies, drooping shoulders, small face and delicate bones represent this type.

2. MEDICAL APPROACH

The medical approach seeks to study the influence of physical disease on crime. Illness may contribute to maladjustment, or people may be too ill to commit crime. For example, hypoglycemia, or abnormal lack of blood sugar, has been related to certain kinds of criminal behaviour. Patients are restless, overactive and lacking in initiative. Undernourishment, disease and poor health are sometimes reported to be found among criminals in excessive proportions, while in other investigations no significant difference is found between criminals and non-criminals. In some studies recidivists are reported to be in better health than first offenders. While there is no reason to minimize the importance of good health, it is apparent that the connection between crime and physical ailments is not close or necessary. Many criminals are quite healthy; many non-criminals have physical ailments. Even if a difference could be shown, the criminality would not be demonstrated to be a direct product of the poor health rather than of the conditions, which produced the poor health.

3. BIOLOGICAL APPROACH

The biological approach attempts to relate crime to heredity. Some efforts have been made by criminologists to establish a relationship between hereditary features in a person and his criminal or non-criminal behaviour. The difficulty in tracing any possible correlation between heredity and behaviour of any type lies in the fact that it is almost impossible to make any scientific study based on hereditary factors independent of environmental factors of various dimensions. The studies made by Charles Goring, Healy, Broner and Sheldon do not indicate any positive evidence that there is necessarily any similarity between the conduct of the members of the same family e.g. between father and son or brother and brother. As regards twin researches, studies are more or less open to the same criticism and it is highly doubtful whether the twin research studies support a nexus between heredity and criminal behaviour.

The factor of heredity has been found to be significant by some criminologists in explaining the concentration of criminal behaviour and this they have sought to establish by the finding that there is a heavy concentration of criminals in certain families. Henry Herbet Goddard, after a detailed study, concluded that crime was the result of low-grade mentality, primarily feeblemindedness, which is an inherited quality of criminals.

Some others think that chromosomal factor may also be involved in criminal behaviour. This they think on the hypothesis that a person with ‘XYY’ model having an extra ‘Y’ chromosome might be a ‘super-male’ with aggressive tendencies resulting in a possible criminal behaviour. As the normal human cell contains 23 pairs of chromosomes; one of these pairs being responsible for the primary and secondary sexual characteristics. Normal male and female chromosomes are denoted as XY and XX respectively. An unusual excess of male or female chromosomes are referred to as XYY and XXY respectively. Studies conducted of the XYY model, do not, however, support the hypothesis. Sarbin and Miller on the contrary concluded that males of XYY type are not predictably aggressive. Rather, they are less aggressive than XY’s.

However, studies towards this approach cannot be said to be based on sound research methods and if at all they disclose anything, it is transference of feeblemindedness through heredity rather than criminal propensities.

To sum up, it may be stated that the influence of heredity on a person’s behaviour cannot be satisfactorily established since it is not practically possible to isolate the hereditary factors from various kinds of environmental factors. It may, however, be conceded that certain physical and mental traits may be inherited which can indirectly result in criminal behaviour.

4. PHYSIOLOGICAL & BIO-CHEMICAL APPROACH

The physiological and bio-chemical approach correlates crime with both normal and abnormal physiological functions and functioning of the ductless glands. This approach sought to explain the criminal behaviour in terms of glandular malfunctioning. The persons connected with endocrinology, in its heyday in the early part of the present century, made efforts to study the connections between glandular functions and human conduct with a zeal, which was probably not warranted.

However, the propositions suggested by the endocrinologists have been severely criticized as would obviously be expected. It has been pointed out that there are many criminals in whose case there is no malfunctioning of endocrine glands and similarly there are many persons having glandular troubles unaffected by any problem of social deviancy. Professor M.F. Ashley Montagu observes that crime is a social condition, not a biological one.

5. PSYCHIATRIC APPROACH

The psychiatric approach originally specialized in the diagnosis of mental disease. Increasingly, however, psychiatrists have extended their activities into the analysis of all degrees of personality deviation and even of normal behaviour. In recent years, some psychiatrists have recognized the influence of culture on the personality. This approach is based on explanation of individualistic traits in terms of mental deficiency in criminals. Primarily there was no distinction between mental deficiency and insanity. However, subsequently two psychologists, Jean E.D. Esquirol (18th Century in France) and Isaac Ray (19th Century in USA) made this distinction clear.

For determining the relationship between mental deficiency and criminal behaviour, psychometric tests were applied. Henry H. Goddard found mental deficiency in almost half of all criminals while Goring was convinced that mental deficiency was a major cause in all criminal behaviour except the ones requiring some cleverness as in the case of fraud.

Mary Woodward examined all the studies pertaining to the relation between low intelligence and crime and was convinced that low intelligence does not play any significant role in delinquency. It would be plausible to say that mental deficiency does not play any direct role in the causation of criminal tendency in a person but indirectly it may be relevant because social adjustment can be more difficult for persons with low intelligence.

In terms of mental quality, an offender may be either normal or abnormal. The pathological offenders vary in the magnitude and degree of abnormality and may be classified and discussed as under:-

a) Psychotics: Most seriously abnormal group.
b) Neurotics & Psychopaths: Group next in order of degree of abnormality.
c) Mental Defectiveness: Residual class with varying degree of abnormality.

a) Psychotics

As regards the class of psychotics, they can further be classified into two categories i.e. those having psychosis of organic origin and those afflicted by psychosis of functional or non-physical kind. Besides these two kinds of psychosis, intoxicants may also contribute indirectly to crimes.

b) Neurotics and Psychopaths

There are two view-points regarding the difference between neurosis and psychoneurosis on the one hand and psychosis on the other. According to one point of view the difference is not qualitative but of degree only i.e. psychosis is more severe as compared to neurosis and psychoneurosis. Others make a qualitative distinction. According to them, living in a world of fantasy, the psychotic is no longer subject to the ordinary laws of nature and has completely lost contact with reality; the neurotic, on the other hand, still lives in the real world but can no longer cope with its difficulties.

c) Mental Defectiveness

Various mental disorders in themselves are not sufficient to explain criminal behaviour. It is being increasingly recognized now that an approach focusing on mental factors of pathological nature shall also have to give due allowance for psychological as well as social and other factors.

In its primitive stage, law was only concerned with external behaviour without any reference to the mental state of the law-breaker. The stage when mens rea became an essential element of crime was reached much later. The position of an insane law-breaker was even worse than normal offenders. He was in a sense considered to be doubly guilty i.e. not only for breaking the law but also for being mad since the quality of madness was regarded as retribution for acts committed against divinity.

M’Naghten Rules

The present law relating to insanity as a defence in India is based on what are known as M’Naghten Rules laid down in England in 1843. In case R v. Arnold, wild beast test was applied which required that in order to be eligible for the defence, the accused must be totally deprived of his understanding and reasoning; so much so that he did not know what he was doing any more than an infant or a wild beast. In R v. Hadfield, Hadfield suffered from delusion that the world was coming to an end and that he had been destined by God to sacrifice himself to save mankind. Suicide being regarded as wicked, he decided to shoot King George-III in order to be hanged for the crime. Quite clearly, he was not eligible for the defence of insanity if the wild-beast test was applied. He was nevertheless acquitted. The judicial attitude in the case reflected a more progressive attitude than in Arnold case. However, this trend was subsequently reversed in M’Naghten case (1843). Daniel M’Naghten suffered from paranoia and imaged the Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel to be one of his enemies and decided to kill him, but happened to kill Peel’s secretary by mistake. After being tried for murder, he was acquitted on the ground of insanity. This decision invited the focus of the attention of government as well as public on the uncertain state of the law of insanity in the country. The issue was debated in the House of Lords and an unusual procedure was employed to seek clarification of the law. The House submitted some abstract questions of law to the High Court Judges and the answer elicited formed M’Naghten Rules, which provide the basis of the defence of insanity in England, India and USA and other common law countries and can be summarized as follows:-

i) Everyone is presumed to be sane until the contrary is proved.

ii) A person has the defence of insanity, if due to disease of the mind, he was incapable of knowing the nature and quality of his act or if he did know this, he did not know that he was doing a wrong.

iii) That if a man commits a criminal act under an insane delusion; he is under the same degree of responsibility as he would have been on the facts as he imagined them to be.

It is evident from the above that it is not every kind or degree of insanity recognized by psychiatry, which may provide a valid defence in criminal law. The legal concept is much narrower and is confined to the cases of total destruction of cognitive faculties i.e. when the accused is found incapable of distinguishing between right and wrong. Section 84 of the Pakistan Penal Code therefore, introduces this concept. The rules have been criticized as being unscientific, vague and involving procedural difficulties for the accused. The major criticism is that the rules recognize only the extreme case of insanity i.e. when there is a complete impairment of the cognitive faculties. According to the rules, a person is either sane or insane as if there are no shades of insanity in between the two extreme positions. However, in England, this concept has been corrected by the incorporation of the concept of ‘diminished responsibility’ in the Homicide Act of 1957. In United States, a test laid down in Durham v. United States (1954) broadened the scope of the expert testimony. The Durham test laid down that:

“An accused is not criminally responsible if his unlawful act was the product of mental disease or defect”

The Durham Rule was applauded by the medical profession but has been criticized by lawyers as a non-rule, being ambiguous and depending too much on expert opinion. The court therefore, tried to keep the rule within manageable limits through subsequent cases like McDonald v. United States (1962) and Washington v. United States (1967).

Irresistible Impulse

An individual is not criminally responsible under the irresistible impulse test, though he may be under the M’Naghten Rules if he had a mental disease that kept him from controlling his conduct despite his knowledge of the nature and quality of his act and his awareness that it was wrong. Interestingly enough, the irresistible impulse test has been criticized both on the ground that it would let the doors of immunity too wide open and also that the test does not go far enough to extend the M’Naghten Rules. According to those, who do not agree to the inclusion of the test in the defence of insanity, the test is fraught with dangers of abuse of the defence since it can never be proved or disproved whether the impulse was irresistible or otherwise in a given case. In Britain, the Royal Commission on Capital Punishment did not approve the test whereas the same has been accepted in some jurisdictions in the United States and Australia.

To sum up here in the words of Mary Woodward, suffice it to say that mental deficiency does not play any direct role in the causation of criminal tendency in a person but indirectly it may be relevant because social adjustment can be more difficult for persons with low intelligence.

6. PSYCHOANALYTICAL APPROACH

The psychoanalytical approach based upon the Freudian analysis, traces behaviour deviations to the repression of basic drives. This repression is occasioned by the mores or demands of civilized life and produces a conflict between the superego or conscience and the basic drives such as sex and hunger. Crime thus is seen as an unconscious effort to solve an emotional problem.

The adherents of the approach appear to hold the view that no other approach is capable of disclosing the whole truth about the criminal. The obvious merit of the psychoanalytical approach is that social factors are also accommodated in the analysis of the ultimate personality of the offender by taking into account the interaction of ego and super-ego.

The difficulty in the application of psychoanalytical approach in cases of individual criminal behaviour is the fact that it is quite difficult to examine the actual mental state of a person with the tools available to psychoanalytical sciences at present. To investigate and measure emotion is an extremely complex job. Besides the lack of proper tools, it has also to be appreciated that emotions and feelings themselves may be in a flux and may undergo changes, for instance, while criminal investigation is being carried out against a person.

7. PSYCHOLOGICAL APPROACH

The psychological approach analyzes motivation and diagnoses personality deviations. Psychology tends to stress the individual rather than the group. In addition to the use of other methods, psychologists use intelligence, emotional, personality, educational, occupational and character tests.

Personality Tests

Much, but not all, crime is rooted in early tension producing parent child relations. Psychologists and psychiatrists, more or less by tradition and sociologists somewhat of necessity still attach labels to psychological types of delinquents, such as the emotionally unstable, the psychopathic, the immature, and so on. When they do so, they speak, not of causal processes but of their products in the form of personality types. Incidentally, it is far easier to know products in the form of personality types. Incidentally, it is far easier to know products than processes; personalities and types of acts than their more remote causes. Nevertheless, we shall continue to speak of the personalities of criminals for the following reasons:

a) Because they do help explain the immediate act of crime.

b) Because underlying causes are not always known.

c) Because there may be some practical value in knowing a personality type for the purpose of predicting delinquency or dealing with delinquents when their possible future can be reasonably well known or controlled; and

d) Because of the very extensive use of personality labels in the literature of criminology.

No doubt the most complete knowledge of the personalities of criminals and delinquents has been derived from long experience in association with them and from case and life histories. But here we are concerned with testing of intellectual, emotional or personality traits found most nearly distinctive of criminals as compared with non-criminals. We are also interested in tests of character – that is to say, of evaluations of personality traits or behaviour as good or bad. Various types of personality tests have been developed for this purpose. A brief resume of a few of the most important among such tests is as under:-

i) The New Revised Stanfod Binet Test of intelligence is still widely used. Since education gives a distinct advantage in the achievement of high scores on these tests, they are supplemented by the use of performance tests like the Porteus Maze Test, the Pintner Patterson Scales, the Wechsler Bellevue Intelligence Scale and others, though all are in varying degrees influenced by varying opportunities which those tested have had.

ii) Delinquency is often associated with delayed maturation of children. Hence, the Vineland Maturity Scale is found useful. Tests attempt to reveal such characteristics as annoyance, conflict, aspirations, consistency, introversion or extroversion, euphoria and happiness, frustration, honesty, punctuality, degree of social acceptance or social non-adjustment etc.

iii) Since some significant characteristics of delinquents may not be realized by them, or may be of such a nature as to bring shame, or for other reasons may be concealed, so-called projective techniques for their discovery have been developed. One such test widely debated and widely used is the Rorschach test. In this test criminals are asked to indicate what ink blots “could be” or “look like”, the subject supposedly reveals significant emotional aspects of his personality. Rorschach test results have been more fully validated with mental patients than with delinquents.

iv) The Thematic Apperception Test differs from the Rorschach in that it presents actual social situations in the form of pictures. The subject tells the story of the situation, the feelings of the characters and the final outcome. In so doing, he reveals some of his own emotions, motives and attitudes which may be indicative of past delinquency, or which may be cautiously be used for prediction for future behaviour.

v) In 1950, Schuessler and Cressey examined all the studies to that and found that testing has not shown criminals to be distinctively emotionally unstable, emotionally immature, emotionally disturbed, temperamentally contrasted with non-criminals, nor different in total personality or even in character. They added, however, that perhaps attitude studies when more completely developed and used may partly differentiate the criminal from the non-criminal population.

vi) The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), which uses no less than 550 items, seems to have been proven in considerable degree to distinguish delinquents and pre-delinquents. The Inventory reveals the delinquent as differing from the non-delinquent chiefly with respect to mental deviations of the psychopathic or the manic type. It does not seem surprising that delinquents are thus found to be characteristically un-socialized or to have less control than non-delinquents over their emotions. Hathaway and Monachesi recognize that not all of the MMPI scales discriminate adequately between delinquents and non-delinquents but are able to show that some do so.

vii) Professor Albert J. Reiss in “Social Correlates of Psychological Types of Delinquency” divided his delinquents into following three kinds:-

a) Integrated delinquents, which come from families well integrated into the local life of their communities, which have good marital relations and teach moral ideals to their children and have effective methods of controlling them but live in the less desirable areas of the city. These delinquents may be individual offenders and less often repeaters than the other two types.

b) Delinquents with faulty ego controls, on the other and, were found to be insecure persons with low self-esteem, or persons highly aggressive towards others in their environment. These come from economically better areas but from families that have been mobile.

c) Defective super-ego delinquents (the one without a disturbing conscience) in fact grown up in unconventional situations. He usually lives in areas of high mobility such as the rooming house district. Yet the families of such delinquents are less mobile than those of the second type. Hence, the delinquents have ad time to absorb patterns prevailing in their immediate neighbourhoods rather than those of the larger society. They often come from homes broken by desertion, divorce and separation. Their parents are often in conflict and often lack effective means of control and moral ideals. These delinquents are very frequently gang members and their acts bring them less mental conflict and less feelings of guilt.

In none of such cases does the nature of the personality itself explain how the personality was acquired. Nor does it tell us whether the cause is in the personality or in social relations, which have been experienced. Therefore, characterization of personality furnishes an inadequate basis for prevention or treatment of criminals.

CONCLUSION (SUBJECTIVE APPROACH)

The individualistic approaches have lost much of the credibility with the advent of more sophisticated environmental theories. Their main weakness lies in the fact that they fail to see that crime represents a socio-cultural phenomenon, which is not associated with the physical or mental equipment of an individual as such. To use the words of Taft and England, individual conformity or non-conformity to criminal codes are as much socio-cultural phenomenon as speaking or failing to speak grammatical English and are not necessarily indicative of the possession of abnormal biological or psychological traits. It cannot however, be denied that the constitutionalists focused attention on the personality of the criminals for the first time which was a step in the right direction towards modern criminology.

II. Objective Approach (Environmental or Ecological Approach)

Objective approaches turn first to the examination of the physical and social conditions within which crime is generated, or which have conditioned the life-long development of the personalities of criminals. Donald R. Taft divided objective approaches into geographical, ecological, economic, social, sociological and cultural approach. However, more logical division of objective approaches can be made by dividing them into following two major categories:-

1. Sociological approach with reference to culture and organization of society and includes Social Disorganization Theories, Cultural Conflict & Deviance Theories, Theories of Juvenile Gang Delinquency and Differential Association Theory.

2. Causative factors of crime with reference to the institutions of society and includes Family Influence, Educational Institutions, Economic factors, Religious Institutions and the Influence of Media on crimes.

1. SOCIOLOGICAL APPROACH

Sociological approach seeks to explain the phenomenon of criminal behaviour with reference to factors outside the personality of the delinquent. In fact, criminal behaviour is looked upon as resulting from social interactions and social structure disorder.

In this respect, Gabriel de Tarde, the French Jurist and social psychologist provides the starting point of the explanation of crime in terms of social factors. Just as Lombroso was the putative father of scientific criminology, Tarde is considered the father of social psychology. According to him, criminal behaviour is the result of a learning process. A person learns criminal behaviour just like any other trade, which he picks up in his childhood. However, it cannot be denied that Tarde’s theory was the precursor of the modern ecological and differential association theories.

Just as pain is a notification to an organism that something is wrong, so crime is a notification of a social maladjustment, especially when crime becomes prevalent. A crime under this heading is treated as an act against the society. Under the sociological approach, we shall discuss the following theories and their related influences on crime causation:-

a) Social Disorganization Theories
b) Cultural Conflict & Deviance Theories
c) Theories of Juvenile Gang Delinquency; and
d) Differential Association Theory

a) Social Disorganization Theories

Social Disorganization Theory links crime rates to neighbourhood ecological characteristics. Urban decay and breakdown in the fabric of social life is the cause of high crime rate.

Social disorganization theory was popularized by Henry McKay and Clifford R. Shaw and supported by Frederick Thrasher in 1920s. This theory sought to explain crime and delinquency within the context of the changing urban environment. This theory links crime rates to neighbourhood ecological characteristics. People instead of taking interest in welfare of the community usually prefer to leave those areas where crime rate is high.

In fact, social change is inevitable in a dynamic society and though not bad in itself, it results sometimes in disharmony, conflict, and cultural dichotomy. This is especially true when the social change happens to be of a fast pace. This kind of unnatural pace is obviously inevitable to lead to disorderly social change. Goals are the same as in developed countries but conditions are totally different in terms of population, productivity and political participation. Social change may in such a situation produce what is called ‘social disorganization’.

Social disorganization has been defined as a decrease of the influence of existing social rules upon individual members of the group. This phenomenon is different from the violation of social rules by individuals, because that is something normally expected in even relatively stable societies where not much damage is possible due to effective social sanctions including criminal law.

Concept of ‘sacred society’ eliminated from urban areas

In Pakistan, social change has taken place at a fast rate during the period extending to about 50 years after Independence and though the volume of crime is somewhat low as compared to many other countries, its rate has already gone up in urban areas, particularly big cities. The village society in Pakistan is still what is called the ‘sacred’ society by sociologists; people are bound together by case and kinship and social sanctions are powerful. There is no anonymity of the individuals as found in the bigger cities and the chances of any deviation are limited in such an environment.

Change in Social Values

Social disorganization may also be due to cultural conflicts between different values of different sections of society. The difference may be between old and new values, local and imported values and traditional values and the values imposed on community by the government or other agencies.

Cultural Lag

Ogburn also explained the process of social disorganization on the grounds of ‘cultural lag’. Cultural lag means that sometimes the various components of culture in a society grow unequally resulting in a gap between those components. It is said, for instance, that machines and scientific inventions are developing at a much faster pace than other cultural components, say, relating to behaviour, thus resulting in deviant behaviour.

Industrialization, Modernization & Urbanization

Industrialization, modernization and urbanization caused break down of traditional pattern of social organization, which was also contributed by cultural conflicts between society and its values.

Criticism

The theories of social disorganization have been criticized on the ground of lack of objectivity in using concepts like ‘disorganization‘ and ‘cultural lag’. It is pointed out that the question whether a society is organized or not involves subjective enquiries.

b) Cultural Conflict & Deviance Theories

Durkheim formulated the concept of anomie, which refers to a condition of normlessness in a society or group due to change and cultural conflict of old values and norms with new patterns of new generations. According to him, human beings have unlimited desires, the only control to these being provided by society and public opinion which lose much of their efficacy in times of economic changes and moral stresses and strains. Anomie condition arises when society can no longer establish and maintain control over individuals’ wants and desires under new stresses and value clashes.

Subsequently, Robert K. Merton based his theory on the premise that human beings had unlimited needs and ambitions but that needs and desires went beyond that which could be achieved through socially approved channels and consequently resulted in escalated rate of crime.

Theory of Differential Association Organization emphasized upon individualism in behaviour, which may also be the result of unlimited needs and ambitions of human. This individualism in behaviour creates a society, which is self-supporting and self-contained and this isolation resulted in comparatively conducive circumstances for criminality.

On the other hand, some people who cannot cope with their culture because of strain and value clashes sometimes adopt a different course and create an independent sub-culture with its own set of rules and values. This is some sort of deviance of the regular course responsible for criminal behaviour.

Social Ecology of Crime

Criminologists have continued to attack crime by diverse studies to learn the social ecology of crime. Brenard (1954), Bordua (1958) and Chilton (1964) proved that ecological conditions such as sub-standard housing, low-income and unrelated people living together are the causes of crime and delinquency.

c) Theories of Juvenile Gang Delinquency

The potential of doing harm by a number of persons acting for a common goal together is higher than their capacity to do mischief individually.

Gangs are the products of slum areas

Though poverty and lower-class status do not necessarily lead to delinquency, their influence can directly lead to formation of juvenile gangs. The likelihood of formation of such gangs is higher in areas populated largely by lower class persons compared to neighbourhoods of mixed or predominantly middle class.

Frederick M. Thrasher is one of the earlier studies on juvenile delinquency focused attention on the groups to which the delinquents belonged. According to him, gang delinquency develops in slums out of the acts committed by the gang members to derive excitement from the adventure involved in such acts.

Pursuit of success

What is encouraged in society is success. So, goals are more important than the means to achieve those goals.

Albert Cohen (1955) wrote a book “Delinquent Boys” protesting against the norms and values of the middle class American culture that labels on lower-class youths as ‘delinquents’. He argued that because these kids face social conditions that make them incapable to achieve success legitimately, they experience “status frustration”, resulting them to join teenage groups. He views these children as forming a separate subculture possessing a value system directly in opposition to that of the larger society.

Common Interests

John Kitsuse and David Dietrick while criticizing Cohen’s theory pointed out that the theory does not explain clearly as to how the sub-cultures are sustained after being developed once. While trying to answer this question, they put an alternative formulation. According to them, the original motives of the gang members are not the same for participating in delinquent activities but later on they develop one thing in common with each other, which maintains the sub-culture. The common bond is that they reject their rejecters.

Unemployment

McGahey (1986) stated that research has shown that neighbourhoods that provide few employment opportunities for youths and adults are vulnerable to predatory crime. Unemployment also reduces the parental control over children, turning them into street gangs.

d) Differential Association Theory

In 1939, Edwin H. Sutherland introduced the ‘Theory of Differential Association’ in his text Principles of Criminology supported by his associate Donald Cressey. According to his theory, criminals have been produced because of association with other criminals or with ‘criminalistic’. He summarized his theory in the following words:

“Criminal behaviour is explained as a product of learning in interaction with other persons, principally within intimate personal groups.”

According to Sutherland, there are in fact two types of organizations operating within the community namely, organizations for criminal purposes and organizations against criminal activities. He maintained that so far as the learning process was concerned, it was the same for both criminal and non-criminal conducts. Some teaching techniques relating to the commission of crimes may be learnt through association with criminals alone but others are acquired in the normal course of education since it is not the difference between criminal and non-criminal techniques as such which matters but the particular use made of them. So, what is actually needed to develop criminal behaviour in many instances is not the crime committing technique but some sort of rationalization to use the techniques for criminal purposes. This rationalizing capacity is learnt through association with criminals, which gives him definitions justifying his deviant conduct.

So, following is the process by which a particular person comes to engage in criminal behaviour:-

i) Criminal behaviour is learned. It negatively means that criminal behaviour is not inherited as such and the person, who is not already trained in crime does not invent criminal behaviour, just as a person does not make mechanical inventions unless he has had training in mechanics.

ii) Criminal behaviour is learned in interaction with other persons in a process of communication. This communication is verbal in many respects but includes also the communication of gestures.

iii) The principal part of the learning of criminal behaviour occurs within intimate personal group.

iv) When criminal behaviour is learned, the learning includes:

a) techniques of committing the crime, which are sometimes very complicated, sometimes very simple.

b) the specific direction of motives, drives, rationalization and attitudes.

v) The specific direction of motives and drives is learned from definitions of the legal codes as favourable or unfavourable.

vi) A person becomes delinquent because of an excess of definitions favourable to violation of law over definitions unfavourable to violation of law. This is the principle of differential of differential association. It refers to both criminal and anti-criminal associations and has to do with counteracting forces. When persons become criminal, they do so because of contacts with criminal patterns and also because of isolation from anti-criminal patterns. Any person inevitably assimilates the surrounding culture unless other patterns are in conflict. Negatively, this proposition of differential association means that associations which are neutral so far as crime is concerned have little or no effect on the genesis of criminal behaviour.

vii) Differential associations may vary in frequency, duration, priority and intensity. This means that associations with criminal behaviour and also association with anti-criminal behaviour vary in those respects. ‘Priority’ is assumed to be important in the sense that lawful behaviour developed in early childhood may persist throughout life.

viii) The process of learning criminal behaviour by association with criminal and anti-criminal patterns involves all of the mechanisms that are involved in any other learning. Negatively, this means that the learning of criminal behaviour is not restricted to the process of imitation.

ix) While criminal behaviour is an expression of general needs and values, it is not explained by those general needs and values since non-criminal behaviour is an expression of the same needs and values. Thieves generally steal in order to secure money, but likewise honest labourers work in order to secure money.

However, it will be plausible to explain here that the theory of differential social organization is distinct from the theory of differential association in a sense that the former emphasize upon individualism in behaviour and this isolation resulted in comparatively conducive circumstances for criminality.

2. CAUSIVE FACTORS OF CRIME

Delinquent and criminal behaviour is shaped within the various institutions of society. In other words, one who ultimately turns out to be a delinquent or criminal is the product of the different socio-economic institutions of which he happens to be a member and these institutions in fact affect in his behaviour. These institutions are generally:

a) Family Influence
b) Impact of Educational Institutions
c) Economic Factors
d) Impact of Religious Institutions; and
e) Influence of Media

a) Family Influence

Introduction

Family is considered as a sanctuary for the child and is the first and most important social institution, which determines the individual’s behaviour towards society. The family not only gives him the first social contact in the world but also determines his position vis-à-vis the larger world. The perception of environment by the child and his attitudes towards it are, therefore, greatly influenced by the family. According to psychologists, the formation of the basic personality of a child is complete in the first ten or twelve years of his life and it is obvious that the influence of family during this period is almost exclusive.

The family also satisfies the child’s basic needs for security. Sense of being understood, economic and affectional security is normal needs of the child. Similarly family gives the child recognition.

The family with other children also is a special asset to the developing child. Relationships with brothers and sisters require the child to adjust to more or less friendly rivalry. Apart from learning traditions of the family, he also learns etiquettes and manners of behaving with other family members and this experience serves him well in the more complex relationships outside the family.

Causes of Delinquency

Now we analyze how family influences the child in developing delinquent behaviour. Following are some of the factors, which cause delinquency in child:

i) Poor standard of manners and etiquettes in the house also badly influence the child and will make for the child more difficult to distinguish the true values of the society. Burt concluded that the most important difference between the situations of delinquent and non-delinquent children was in the home discipline. If the family itself is criminal or involved in some sort of immoral activity, it cannot be said that a child belonging to that family will reflect some different attitude.

ii) Parents should watch that the child should not suffer from complexes because if wishes of child are not fulfilled he will suffer from complex, which will subsequently degenerate his personality. Children whose basic needs have not been met in the home suffer stress and may become delinquent. Following are some of the causes of such emotional tensions and frustrations:

- They may arise out of physical deprivations such as failure to provide money when other children have this means of spending for their own pleasure.

- They may be rooted in feelings of jealousy often growing out of the real or imagined preference of a parent for one child over another or out of rivalry between siblings, as each new child appears to disturb the privileged position of his predecessor.

- They may be seen in a desire for revenge because of parental injustice, real or imaginary. Psychoanalysts have emphasized the Oedipus complex as a principal source of delinquency. This complex consists of hatred of the father because of rivalry for the affections of the mother. Because the father is the authority in the home, the boy transfers hatred of authority when he becomes active in the outside community. However, it is difficult to determine the extent to which such transference occurs.

- They may be the result of quarreling between parents. The Gluecks rated the relations between parents of their juvenile delinquents as either actually broken or showing gross incompatibility in 38% of the cases, while the corresponding figure for their delinquent women was 52%.

- They may result from a sense of being unwanted or otherwise rejected. Children in the family are sometimes subjected to emotional discomfort so unbearable that an effort is made not to face it but to repress it or forget it.

iii) When the child will feel that he is not being looked after properly, sense of deprivation will develop and resultantly he will feel insecure. It is the right of child to be properly looked after by giving him required food, clothing etc. Sense of insecurity and deprivation will in fact drive him to search for some security outside the family.

iv) The immediate affect of sense of deprivation will be that the child will expose himself more to outside influences and the control of family over him will gradually diminish. The absence of family control over child when he remains out of house for longer period may expose him to bad company.

v) Child being the person of weak integrity and prudence will always have less resistance towards bad influences. So, parents must put a careful watch upon his friends and external environment.

vi) Teachers and family members must respect the child and corporeal punishment must be avoided. The positive result of doing so will be that self esteem will develop in the child and resultantly he will act in a more responsible manner towards society.

vii) The child must be given proper education. The affect of such education will be that he will learn how to behave with his colleagues. During this course, he will also learn the true values of the society, which will subsequently make him good citizen. However, the lesser education will make him shy and he will not be able to express himself properly. This shyness will also become as a hurdle in his social interaction and he will feel isolated and deprivated. This feeling of isolation and deprivation will resultantly be responsible for generating delinquent behaviour towards society.

viii) Absence of recreation facilities are also responsible in making child delinquent. Lack of accommodation in the house drives a child to the street. This will cause formation of street gangs, which will ultimately transform into juvenile gang delinquency. Moreover, commercialization of recreation has taken it out of the control of the family, given members less need of one another. In a home where sanitary conditions are too poor, just as in the case of home conditions in immigrant families, the children are often thrown upon their own resources or the resources of the very disorganized communities in which they live. Thomas and Znaniecki stated that because the immigrants do not have the support of the larger family and of the community, they cannot control their children. Moreover, high rate of mobilization is also a cause of delinquency.

ix) Lack of affection sometimes results from broken homes and many studies have established the obvious relationship between this factor and delinquent behaviour. A home may be broken either due to divorce or due to death of any parent. In such case, sense of deprivation and lack of security nourish which in reaction ultimately culminate into delinquent behaviour. Shaw and McKay (1937) in “Social Factors in Juvenile Delinquency” compared delinquent boys with schoolboys of the same age and national derivation and found that 42.5% of the delinquent boys and 36.1% of the school-boys came from broken homes.

x) Sometimes there may be lack of affection or its perception by the child, even in families, which cannot be termed as broken families like the ones where the parents due to some reason or the other have no time for the children. It may be because of too much involvement in their occupation on the part of parents. Ruth Topping in the New York Training School made one study, which brought out the element of parental rejection as a contributory factor in delinquency.

xi) Other relevant factors in the analysis of a child’s behaviour may be the size of the family and the sibling order in which the child is placed. Cyril Burt made a study in (1946) in the context of the family size and his finding was that “children from the poorest social classes not only have an intelligence that is nearly two years below that of the children from the better social classes, but are drawn from the families that are nearly twice as large. But Emanuel Miller surveyed the English and American literature upto 1944 and found the available information to be ‘singularly poor and contradictory’ and to him none of the many variables involved in juvenile delinquency seemed to be especially related to birth order.

xii) Sheldon and Eleanor Glueck attempted to analyze the problem of relationship of delinquent behaviour in the context of working mothers in their well known study Unravelling Juvenile Delinquency. In their study, they compared pair by pair 500 delinquents with 500 non-delinquents with regard to intelligence and age. All the persons constituting ‘delinquent and ‘non-delinquent’ samples were taken from culturally and economically underprivileged urban areas. They reached the following conclusion:

- Working mothers of low-income groups were not concerned about arranging supervision of their children as those who remain at home.

- The supervision on the part of working mothers was far less suitable than those mothers who were housewives.

- A boy who is carelessly supervised and who has a mother who occasionally works is far more likely to become a delinquent than the boy who is poorly supervised by the mother who does not go to work.

Safeguards from delinquency – Promotion of certain traditional values

i) We must encourage the joint family system. Because it removes the deficiency of supervision on the part of parents and grandparents play their full role in case of lack of supervision on the part of parents. Moreover, lack of affection, if any, is also compensated through them.

ii) Poverty and child labour also contribute indirectly in making a child delinquent. Moreover, when they are employed for smuggling, drug trafficking and pick pocketing and crimes of similar nature, they ultimately become hardened criminal. Therefore, they must not be plied on labour before certain age and after taking certain qualifications keeping in view the system, which is in vogue in most of the countries of the world.

Conclusion

In short, whether more or less it is the fact beyond reasonable doubt that normal family gives the child status. As Plant (1932) in “The Child as a Member of the Family” said, family answers the basic question, “who am I?” and gives him recognition. So, it could safely be inferred that delinquency is thus often a symptom of unmet needs of childhood.

b) Impact of Educational Institutions

After the family, it is the school, which provides the most important opportunity to a child for the development of his social attitudes. Apart from other factors, the prime reason is that the child spends a very substantial part of his total time in a day at school. So, the school may be responsible for the development of delinquency in certain ways or it may be that certain problems come to the surface only after the child’s entry into the school.

The first step towards criminal behaviour is truancy or running away from school, which may either be due to certain factors operating within the school structure of due to certain factors already unfavourable to child. However, most of these factors are common in developed as well as in developing countries.

Another thing is that in our society, the illiteracy rate is much high and most of the government and municipal schools are poorly equipped and education is imparted without creating any motivation for the children of the lower class families, which form a substantial part of the populations. Despite the facil

HITLER'S POSITIVE CHRISTIANITY...Unleashing the Patriotic Church

This article was written by one of German ancestry whose forebears on his mother’s side can be traced to Martin Luther himself; thence, the incessant interest in the rise of Adolf Hitler and, in particular (through years of research) the under girding support he derived in his ascendancy from the Christian religion in the heart of Europe. How could this possibly happen? Alas! Could we in America be as deceitfully predisposed to such a malevolent curse—driven by the same demons? Do we today witness camouflaged strategies designed to accomplish a greater horror of unimaginable consequence and upon Christendom of like vulnerability?

The remotest thought of such an evil plot akin to what seduced the German people could somehow be foisted upon our beloved America boggles the senses . . . yet, each day, each month, the same cultural polarization eerily divides; the similitude of its military-industrial complex mirrors that of Rome’s expansions; its cries for greater and more restrictive security for its citizenry clamors; its tenuous economic factors now threatening the globalism it created as a result of the insatiable consumption of all things luxurious persist—all this while within the walls of our crystal city, the party is oblivious to the multitude of the wretched outside who admire and distain its opulence. Are there comparisons? Be not quick in your rejection that alleged “systems” now in place—with histories of wide disparity—insure Americans absolute relief from the extremities of Nazi Germany . . . look again, look carefully, very carefully . . . history’s mercurial habit at repetition seeks to warn us all . . . “broad is the way that leadeth to destruction and many there be that go in thereat.”

THE INTOXICATING APPEAL

To understand the appeal, the absolute, mesmerizing, and intoxicating drive behind Hitler's success, one must go beyond the inequities of the Versailles Treaty and delve into the mysterious association that Herr Hitler placed upon the Christian religion. Don't think that Adolf was way off into some cultic, overtly demonic world of fantasy and influence. True, the occult most assuredly was deeply engaged in his thinking and outlook—but the use of legitimate Christian imagery was his forte. He both understood the need to mobilize the masses and the religion that alone could sway their fidelity to his cause.

Furthermore, throughout his declarations and apparent pontifications, is a unique ability to uplift and galvanize the German people—to so highly esteem them, and to generate within them the self-esteem that would produce a people whose image reflected the one who had so unalterably changed and transformed them into the awesome enunciation of der Fuhrer himself. They became transfixed and transported into another state of mind and being—from despair and rejection, to an exhilarating euphoria and total acceptance. They could BE ALL THAT THEY COULD BE and then some. Here is no buffoon strutting upon the stage of German dejection cavalierly riveting the German mind and will upon himself—no, no, no!

Here is the uniqueness of Adolf Hitler—one who could so verbalize with utter clarity what the German soul could be in its fullness and creative genius. Neither did his spoken word proclaim his own commitment and genius—it climaxed within the Germany he envisioned in such a rapturous expression and discovery of who they were, and what they could become, with God Almighty vindicating every breath they would take! Hitler injected into nearly every German heart a DIVINE SPARK, which regrettably morphed into an inferno of destruction and death unforeseen in human history—but its initial dissension upon its benefactors was replete with a baptism of power and light utterly transcendent that it captured an entire nation in the heart of Christian Europe. Its pristine message created the IMAGE of DAS VOLK, a people who were destined by the very triumph of their corporate will to be the consummation and commencement of the Kingdom of God—DAS THOUSANDE JAHRE REICH! (The promised millennial reign—one thousand year kingdom)!

But, firstly, the Weimar Republic's failure was predictable. Its liberalism was far too watered down, far too immersed in its diversity and acceptance to galvanize the enthusiasm and concerted consecration of common folk, who longed for a winner, a leader, a "national champion." Democracy, gone awry, alone can produce dictatorship—de facto, or elected! Ultimately, the Left (Weimar or Hollywood)—again by its very nature—simply cannot SUSTAIN the caliber of commitment and vision that can be produced by absolutism and rigid conservatism to which we allude here.

Today a growing number of truly evangelical faithful observe the Christian Right in America, assisted by its current allies among the so-called neocons (i.e., neoconservatives—pragmatic politicos), forging a formidable alliance of convenience that wholly supports the rise of the New American World Order System. Its striking resemblance to Hitler's appeals is frightful! Liberalism may rant and rave about societal freedoms and renounce governmental restrictions—but their voices and challenges are hollow sounding and even adjudged fallacious, when the triumph of his armies have so prevailed upon the Plains of Shinar! Libertarians and Constitutionalists—you do well to listen to this diatribe.

ADOLF HITLER—THE GERMAN SOLUTION IS A CHRISTIAN ONE

The tone and substance coming from the mouth of Herr Hitler, although the context is, of course, unique to European Christianity, is eerily compatible to what we are increasingly hearing today from certain political leaders within the American New World Order System. What you are about to read will shock many of you—will utterly cause you to have a spiritual seizure; a revulsion akin to a full-blown, stomach-bending, vomit—but you must come to terms with why this is happening and how religion—the Christian religion—is the most powerful tool that can be utilized in order to capture the "believing" masses and to promote, through "moral covering" and political dedication, an agenda that resounds within the heart of the common man in the context of Western Civilization.

Hitler, like today's champions of Americana, knew that the "believing masses" had been beaten down; had suffered their World War (Viet Nam), had their beloved Germany (America) battered about with moral decline and "radical secularism" that caused the "moral fiber" of the nation to collapse—something had (has) to be done—someone with guts and glory had (has) to arise to capture the imagination of the nation to arise from its depravity and crimes, from its vulnerability (be it from "them socialists" or "terrorists"), from its self-inflicted and debilitating social ills . . . someone is needed to alter our self-perceptions!

The problem was created by the Devil himself—The Cabaret Society of the Weimar Republic (They never represented true Germany!). "We'd been maligned by every creeping thing imaginable upon our streets: Socialists, Communists, radical Unionists, Jews, Secularists, Liberal Theologians, Homosexuals, Raunchy Entertainment, ad nausea—and this upon our wretched economic woes and that ‘Paper from Hell’ (i.e., the Versailles Treaty)."

Now—the Devil would provide the solution to the aforementioned problem. He would provide the solution through a man, a party, that would reach down to the common man and pull upon his heart strings—upon that which is made to respond to the highest ideals of man: His religious conscience would be the springboard to launch a fully consecrated and absolutely committed people, sold out to the one who could uplift and empower them. Thence, this resolution to Germany's defeat must be ensconced within the language of power and persuasion—it must carry the fervor of the EVANGELIST, the power of the PROPHET, the message of the APOSTLE! Yes, convoluted—but done with such passionate skill, that the unwitting and desperate would believe the LIE. Indeed, a true LIE is so close to reality that its frightening resemblance obscures all semblances to the truth!

Ultimately, a lie told long enough, and amplified to the uttermost, resounds with familiarity—YE SHALL BE AS GODS, KNOWING GOOD AND EVIL! This original deceit confounded our original forebears. This is no ordinary lie—it is THE LIE. Godhood, the ultimate UBERMENSCH, is the final destiny of the German race—of Hitler's "Religion." But first, the people must be prepared, until they realize their supreme destination and status as DAS VOLK!

HITLER—I CAN'T BELIEVE HE SAID IT! (Hitler/Nazi Comments in quotes)

"We demand liberty for all religious denominations in the State, so far as they are not a danger to it and do not militate against the morality and moral sense of the German race. The Party, as such, stands for positive Christianity, but does not bind itself in the matter of creed to any particular confession." (Item 24 of the German Worker's Party "Program" cir. 1920s)

At the earliest formation of the Nazi Party, Hitler expressed his Christian support to the German people and soldiers. In the 1920s, Hitler's German Workers' Party (pre Nazi terminology) adopted a twenty-five-point program with the clear intent to persuade the German people that "positive Christianity" was in full conformity to the "moral" convictions of the Party—i.e., the Party fully embraced the morality of Christianity and that Christianity was viewed as "singular" in the minds of that Party—Catholic and Protestants were considered as the foundation of German Christianity in its fullness and jurisdiction (the Party embraced both as one).

"MY LORD AND SAVIOR . . . IN THE BOUNDLESS LOVE AS A CHRISTIAN . . . HE HAD TO SHED HIS BLOOD UPON THE CROSS. My feelings as a Christian point me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them. This is God's truth! He was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before in the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice....

“And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people.

“When I go out in the morning and see these men standing in their queues and look into their pinched faces, then I believe I would be no Christian, but a very devil, if I felt no pity for them, if I did not, as did our Lord two thousand years ago, turn against those by whom today this poor people is plundered and exploited.”

[Note, “Brood of vipers” appears in Matt. 3:7 & 12:34. John 2:15 depicts Jesus driving out the moneychangers (adders) from the temple.] Adolf Hitler, in his speech on 12 April 1922.

“We were convinced that the people needs and requires this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out.” --Adolf Hitler, in a speech in Berlin on 24 October 1933

Indeed, Hitler's speeches and proclamations, even more clearly, reveal his faith and feelings toward a Christianized Germany. Nazism presents an embarrassment to Christianity and demonstrates the danger of blending "faith with politics." Do you find it "spiritually disconcerting" to discover the depth of Hitler's hermeneutic? How about his exegesis of Matthew 3:7, 12:34 and John 2:15? Hitler's depiction of Jesus as the FIGHTER, not as the sufferer, is a distortion of the Scriptural intent of this reading; however, without knowing the full contextual nature of the Word, one could (as Hitler did) surmise a MILITANT JESUS is in view, and not a suffering Jesus.

It has been said, "The Bible can be read to say anything!" Examples abound: "Judas hung himself . . . go thou and do likewise!" This classic piece of cut and paste, though stupid, is precisely what many so-called expositors do with the Word of God—Hitler was no exception. But, the shedding of the blood of Jesus as the ultimate payment for "truth and justice and the German way" is frightening and turns true Christianity on its head! Note that Hitler claims to be a Christian and, as such, he has a duty to his own people—he too, like Jesus, must be a fighter for truth and justice—he must rid the Temple of the moneychangers, of the abominable Jews who harass his people, like Jesus did. The German people, according to Hitler, were being "plundered and exploited" and he would be NO CHRISTIAN if he didn't do something about it. Hitler's identification as a Christian was one of activism—not in name only! In this artful persuasion he under girded the German people in their predisposition to anti-Semitism, the full spiritual justification for their participation in the "Final Solution."

In sum: Hitler showed his disdain for atheism, and pagan cults, and revealed the strength of his Christian feelings—make no doubt about that. Likewise, his was no meaningless and superficial theology—it was clearly demarcated and set forth in all its hideous implications with righteous gusto.

CHURCH UNITY—HITLER WAS A FIRM BELIEVER IN IT

"It will at any rate be my supreme task to see to it that in the newly awakened NSDAP, the adherents of both Confessions can live peacefully together side by side in order that they may take their stand in the common fight against the power, which is the mortal foe of any true Christianity."---Adolf Hitler, in an article headed "A New Beginning," 26 Feb. 1925

"This is for us a ground for satisfaction, since we desire that the fight in the religious camps should come to an end... all political action in the parties will be forbidden to priests for all time, happy because we know what is wanted by millions who long to see in the priest only the comforter of their souls and not the representative of their political convictions."--Adolf Hitler, in a speech to the men of the SA at Dortmund, 9 July 1933, on the day after the signing of the Concordat (Agreement with the Roman Catholic Church, the Papacy).

The unity of the Church is a recurrent message delivered by Hitler. His object, of course, was "against the power"—i.e., the international Jewish conspiracy against the Church, and, of course, the German people and the world in general. The technique of solidifying the churches into the "Hammer of God" was a strategy that appealed to the vast majority of German Christians. That he would see in them such an instrument of righteous indignation was commending—both to them as the object of his insight, and to himself for his discernment of such.

It is my firm conviction that this is precisely what is happening in America today. The appeal to the Christian religion in the battle “against evil” within the West is NOT an historic first! Don't be so quick to terminate this reading—let me explain. Who are those who most clearly understand the language of THE AXIS OF EVIL? Who are those who clearly grasp the "spiritual reality" behind Islamic terrorism? The current President is no fool in appealing to the most religious in leading his charge against the forces of evil that assail the current drama. The appeal to religious unity in the face of extremity is manifested in Islamic Jihad—Holy War. But, this appeal is far more sinister and powerful when placed in the hands of a "Christian President" about to inspire the faithful—far more potent is its impress. There is a righteous finality connected with it—a more sure word—an unseen and unmistaken cause behind this necessary action whose appeal is Ultimate and Conclusive. God, and God alone, is my judge—and you are "either for us or against us"—there is no compromise, there is no wavering between two opinions—LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT—OUR CAUSE IS JUST!

And, believers who are so deeply embarrassed by today's divisions within the Church—actually do appreciate a leader who recognizes their spiritual unity. Yes, understands their "confessions" are unique—but ascribes singularity of purpose and POSITION to the Church—that's leadership which manifests such excellence and even "theological understanding" behind what the Church really is in nature and purpose.

Today's quest for Christian unity—especially among evangelicals and "social conservatives" (i.e., Mormons, Catholics, Protestants, evangelicals, Charismatics, Pentecostals, black and white churches alike, etc.) is a unity that, because of leadership like the "Apostles and Prophets" and so much of the Mega-Ministries/Meta-Churches of today—is able to center on our common bonds in Christ—and will not allow the "confessions" of our faith to interfere with the strength of our unity which we have in the Lord. Leadership that brings in the unity of the faith is leadership indeed! And, a President who acknowledges that type of leadership is not only to be commended—he is to be admired and followed into battle, especially when it is against EVIL DOERS!

To abrogate this fight against evil to any other than a united Church would be altogether foolhardy—for it would not resound within the hearts of the "unlearned," as clearly as it responds within the heart of the true believer! Transcending America’s denominational disputes, as Hitler did Germany’s chasm between Protestants and Catholics, indisputably places the

Alas! Hitler has defined the "true foe of Christianity!" In a much more subtle fashion we see the ultimate FOE of today’s Christianity lurks behind the fanaticism of an "evil religion"—notwithstanding the ecumenical protestations to the contrary—the CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG: This is a CRUSADE! Let freedom ring within the 10/40 corridor! At last, a leader that understands what real freedom is all about—for true freedom is RELIGIOUS in nature and outlook. Religious freedom is at the heart and soul of whatever freedom can possibly mean—without it, there is no freedom! A united Church is the most critical tool in forging a nation's will in the spread of this freedom—and in subduing every militant foe that would come against us.

A Church divided—a nation’s religious soul at odds—cannot surmount the challenges of relativism and secularism, never! And, worse yet, freedom's recipients will be released when those who embrace these ideals are allowed to free the captives in the first place! Just as the German people were "released" by Hitler—even so, the American people must be freed from the "cultural bias" of their critics and naysayers who are determined to change the course of America's traditions and culture to fit Hollywood's image of what America should be. Today we tolerate their criticisms—may they bear, however, the wrath of the consumer (i.e., we will not frequent their films nor buy their records/products). The "traitors" must be confined to the outskirts of society—for they have been the obstacles of our true culture and identity—banish their "traitorous" designs! They are anti-American, anti-God, and anti-Country.

HITLER—THE "PRAYER WARRIOR"

"Except the Lord build the house they labor in vain.... The truth of that text was proved if one looks at the house of which the foundations were laid in 1918 and which since then has been in building.... The world will not help, the people must help itself. Its own strength is the source of life. That strength the Almighty has given us to use; that in it and through it we may wage the battle of our life.... The others in the past years have not had the blessing of the Almighty—of Him Who in the last resort, whatever man may do, holds in His hands the final decision. Lord God, let us never hesitate or play the coward, let us never forget the duty which we have taken upon us.... We are all proud that through God's powerful aid we have become once more true Germans. --Adolf Hitler, in a speech in March 1933 [Note, "Except the Lord built the house, they labor in vain" comes from Psalms 127:1]

Do you not see one here whose "strength is in the Lord?" Surely, our nightmare is over—those of the Weimar-imposed government were the kiss of death upon our people. In vain did they build this house of cards upon their own efforts and strength—but we, the German people, shall "gird up our loins" and with GOD'S POWER we shall build! How eloquent did he express it—what courageous outbursts of revelation have we here: THAT STRENGTH THE ALMIGHTY HAS GIVEN US TO USE—THAT IN IT AND THROUGH IT WE MAY WAGE THE BATTLE OF OUR LIFE!

The "blessing of the Almighty" was NOT the purview of the Weimar Republic—nor of the allies who laid this horrific burden upon us—but the Almighty has enjoined us to cast it off by His almighty strength and cease Weimar's vain efforts to rebuild our nation; instead, we appeal to our LAST RESORT, to the ONE WHO HOLDS IN HIS HANDS THE FINAL DECISION. What insight! What acclamation of truth! What boldness of spirit is witnessed before the whole world!

God, and God Almighty alone, is our ultimate recourse and judge—LET US NEVER FORGET THE DUTY TO WHICH HE HAS CALLED US AND LET US TAKE THIS RESPONSIBILITY UPON US TO BUILD WITH ALL HIS POWER AND MIGHT! This is the spirit that swept Nazi Germany—this is the religious fervor that enthralled a people—don't think that its appeal to the religiosity of the American spirit is so distant. Its astonishing appeal is much greater, much stronger than it ever was for those who lived through the Hitlerian nightmare of Nazi Germany. Why? Because American Christianity is far more evangelical than Germany's ever thought of being—far more committed, far more resolute. The language of German Christianity was steeped in a tradition that had been ravaged by higher Biblical criticism and rank liberalism—in point of fact; it was a "Cultural Christianity" in name only, without power, and without conviction. Not so with mainstream American Christianity and its evangelical fervor—its leadership is legion; its financial coffers are full; its involvement is aggressive; its message is universally accepted; and, its powers of communication are unprecedented in modern history!

HITLER: "WE REGARD CHRISTIANITY AS THE UNSHAKABLE FOUNDATION OF MORALITY!"

"The Government, being resolved to undertake the political and moral purification of our public life, are creating and securing the conditions necessary for a really profound revival of religious life . . . .

"The National Government regards the two Christian Confessions as the weightiest factors for the maintenance of our nationality. They will respect the agreements concluded between them and the federal States. Their rights are not to be infringed....

"It will be the Government's care to maintain honest co-operation between Church and State; the struggle against materialistic views and for a real national community is just as much in the interest of the German nation as in that of the welfare of our Christian faith.

"The Government of the Reich, who regard Christianity as the unshakable foundation of the morals and moral code of the nation, attach the greatest value to friendly relations with the Holy See and are endeavoring to develop them." --Adolf Hitler, in his speech to the Reichstag on 23 March 1933

The partnership of Church and State constructed by Hitler was remarkable in many ways—for he appealed to their most self-righteous aspirations and accredited to them the very "moral soul" of the nation—i.e., without TRUE CHRISTIANITY'S FOUNDATIONS OF MORALITY, there is no German morality. This pronouncement was further enhanced when Hitler acclaimed the Church's view of "materialism" as primary in the consciousness of a revived Germany. There was a depth to the Germanic soul that denounced secular materialism as downright superficial and dangerous to the German psyche. It was the Church, which brought us this revelation, and it is the Church that must be protected in order for us to maintain such revulsion to such materialistic realms—only a Germany with SPIRITUAL DEPTH is worthy of recognition and promotion. What insight Hitler possessed! To evoke the cause of spirituality juxtaposed to rank materialism, and to recognize this discernment as the purview of the Church—this is “marvelous in our eyes!”

His audience, at the time was Catholic and Protestant (mostly in name)—but his announcement of the CONCORDAT with Rome is obvious and clear. Friendly relations—yea, relations that are inclusive of the Church are and must be the norm in a resurgent Germany. Hitler's famous statement concerning Germany resounds to this day: WE WILL RESTORE THE CHRISTIAN SPIRIT!

Similarities? Indeed, for the intrusive nature of rampant secular humanism and relativism have shaken the foundations of what was once an assured Americana—now, it's pay back time. Why has our nation "gone to hell in a hand basket?" Why? Because we have forsaken our God and, thence, we have abandoned what little claim we held to morality—now, our families and our culture have been shipwrecked by the proponents from Dewey on down. It is time we cast off their bounds and freed ourselves from their depravities—let us arise and put on our moral amour! Thank God we have a man in the White House who understands our groaning and aspires to a higher cause and to a world of absolutes, instead of grays and murky morality (e. g., if it feels good, do it). Finally, there's one who knows good from evil, right from wrong and is not afraid to call it like it is. Relativism is the bane of morality—relativism breeds discrepancies in moral judgment and, ipso facto, moral decay and a nation’s decline.

Notwithstanding the facetious nature of the above (and I'm not suggesting that relativism has any merit whatsoever)—it's the USE of what is good and godly that provokes. Please understand—morality that is from above is altogether noble and cherished by all believers—but the use of morality for political goals is the worst embrace that the Christian religion needs or should countenance.

PAPAL COMPLICITY?

After the death of Pius XI, the electoral procedure to elect another Pope had begun. The March 1939 election favored Pacelli and four days later, Pacelli made it clear that he would handle all German affairs personally. He proposed the following affirmation of Hitler:

"To the Illustrious Herr Adolf Hitler, Fuhrer and Chancellor of the German Reich! Here at the beginning of Our Pontificate We wish to assure you that We remain devoted to the spiritual welfare of the German people entrusted to your leadership.... During the many years we spent in Germany, We did all in Our power to establish harmonious relations between Church and State. Now that the responsibilities of Our pastoral function have increased Our opportunities, how much more ardently do We pray to reach that goal. May the prosperity of the German people and their progress in every domain come, with God's help, to fruition!"

Pacelli became a crowned Pope on March 12, 1939 (Pius XII). The following month on April 20, 1939, at Pacelli's express wish, Archbishop Orsenigo, the nuncio in Berlin, opened a gala reception for Hitler's fiftieth birthday. The birthday greetings thus initiated by Pacelli immediately became a tradition; each April 20 during the few years left to Hitler and his Reich, Cardinal Bertram of Berlin would send "warmest congratulations to the Fuhrer in the name of the bishops and the dioceses in Germany," to which he added "fervent prayers which the Catholics in Germany are sending to heaven on their altars." [Cornwell, John, Hitler's Pope: The Secret History of Pius XII, Viking, 1999, p. 209]

HITLER: "LORD, WE WILL NOT LET THEE GO--BLESS NOW OUR FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM"

"We want honestly to earn the resurrection of our people through our industry, our perseverance, and our will. We ask not of the Almighty, 'Lord, make us free!'—we want to be active, to work, to agree together as brothers, to strive in rivalry with one another to bring about the hour when we can come before Him and when we may ask of Him: ‘Lord, Thou seest that we have transformed ourselves, the German people is no longer the people of dishonor, of shame, of war within itself, of faintheartedness and little faith: no, Lord, the German people has become strong again in spirit, strong in will, strong in endurance, strong to bear all sacrifices.’ ‘Lord, we will not let Thee go: bless now our fight for our freedom; the fight we wage for our German people and Fatherland.’"
Adolf Hitler, giving prayer in a speech on May Day, 1933

"If we pursue this way, if we are decent, industrious, and honest, if we so loyally and truly fulfill our duty, then it is my conviction that in the future as in the past the Lord God will always help us. In the long run He never leaves decent folk in the lurch. Often He may test them, He may send trials upon them, but in the long run He always lets His sun shine upon them once more and at the end He gives them His blessing.
Adolf Hitler, at the Harvest Thanksgiving Festival on the Buckeburg held on 3 Oct. 1937

My friend, this is not someone faint of heart and improvised in spirit—NO! Here is one who exudes a "God-like confidence," that instills the finest and best into his people. No, again, he does not commend his own capacities for valor nor courage—but he imbues the German soul with an uplifted aspiration replete with transforming might and empowerment beyond one's wildest imagination. He crystallizes their wholeness, he encapsulates a profound insight into what it means to be distinctly German in every noble way—and he does it all with a cacophony of praise and adulation upon his people, who resoundingly reflect his image and become the very image they behold! No wonder they must adore him, no wonder they must follow him—he alone is worthy to be their Fuhrer, their indomitable LEADER; their Moses who must lead them out of their wilderness into their Promised Land of fullness!

Don't be so foolish to adjudge them so gullible and childish in their adoration of such a man—to be German in such an age of humiliation was a tragic shame. Yet, here was one who out of his poverty and German despair, infused them with such a vision of what they could be and should be that they literally came out of their impoverished selves into the wealth of his embrace—THEY WERE BORN AGAIN!

Represented throughout these quotes is a man who demonstrates "faith at work" on the noblest of levels. Working hand and glove with the Almighty in a DIVINE COOPERATION upon the earth—here is one who exemplifies a vital dependence, expectant of God's richest blessings upon all who merit His care through utter dependence upon His good graces. He is a witness to the Scriptural pattern of testing, tribulation, and trials that lead to intimate reliance upon the Almighty. Dear friend, Hitler projected his God as wholly empathetic to the most sacred needs of humanity—a personal, close-in God of infinite understanding and compassion upon those whom the Almighty molds into His useful vessel—if you cannot see this on the surface of his words, then perhaps you would have been one of the very few who did not!

"SEPARATION" OF CHURCH AND STATE or "INSEPARABLE" SEPARATION

"National Socialism has always affirmed that it is determined to take the Christian Churches under the protection of the State....

"The decisive factor which can justify the existence alike of Church and State is the maintenance of men's spiritual and bodily health, for if that health were destroyed it would mean the end of the State and also the end of the Church....

"It is my sincere hope that thereby for Germany, too, through free agreement there has been produced a final clarification of spheres in the functions of the State and of one Church." --Adolf Hitler, on a wireless on 22 July, the evening before the Evangelical Church Election

"The German Church and the People are practically the same body. Therefore there could be no issue between Church and State. The Church, as such, has nothing to do with political affairs. On the other hand, the State has nothing to do with the faith or inner organization of the Church. The election of November 12th would be an expression of Church constituency, but not as a Church."--Adolf Hitler, answering C. F. MacFarlane about Church & State (in his book, The New Church and the New Germany)

"The National Socialist State professes its allegiance to positive Christianity. It will be its honest endeavor to protect both the great Christian Confessions in their rights, to secure them from interference with their doctrines (Lehren), and in their duties to constitute a harmony with the views and the exigencies of the State of today." --Adolf Hitler, on 26 June 1934, to Catholic bishops to assure them that he would take action against the new pagan propaganda.

"So long as they concern themselves with their religious problems the State does not concern itself with them. But so soon as they attempt by any means whatsoever—by letters, Encyclical, or otherwise—to arrogate to themselves rights which belong to the State alone we shall force them back into their proper spiritual, pastoral activity."---Adolf Hitler, in a speech delivered in Berlin on the May Day festival, 1937

Here is a most deliberate attempt to separate the "spheres of influence" through double speak. To say that "separate but equal" was truly equal in America's school systems was a falsehood perpetrated by our highest court--the Supreme Court (later it was overturned). Hitler's "spheres of function" were altogether up building insofar as the Church's sphere was concerned--for without the spiritual health of Germany, there would be no bodily health!

How essential had become the Church's role in building a new Germany from the ashes of the Weimar curse? Plenty, in every way. The accolades heaped upon the spirituality of the German Church appear foremost in Hitler's quest to ingratiate himself with the IMAGE of his creation—though unbeknownst to his followers. In practicality—and if one took him at his word—there was no separation of Church and State. Perhaps in name only—but to view the State without the Church, would be to actualize a SOULESS STATE—inwardly dead, without a spirit, utterly lifeless; without meaning, and moral compass.

Could we not conclude that Hitler's National Socialism had fused Church and State so closely together that to see one, you'd have to see the other—he that hath seen ME (i.e., the German State personified in Hitler) has seen the Fatherland (whose spirit was the Church)? No shallow theology here—a captivating indignity to Holy Writ was born in this devilish collaboration and identification. Yet, was his subtlety so fine that the appearance of Church & State separation was his theme—but was it? I don't think so—not in the final analysis; until the day he fully turned and devoured her.

THE CONCORDAT WITH ROME

"The fact that the Vatican is concluding a treaty with the new Germany means the acknowledgement of the National Socialist state by the Catholic Church. This treaty shows the whole world clearly and unequivocally that the assertion that National Socialism [Nazism] is hostile to religion is a lie."--Adolf Hitler, 22 July 1933, writing to the Nazi Party (quoted from John Cornwell's "Hitler's Pope"

The Vatican, a far easier catch for Hitler than the splintering of their Protestant counterparts, could easily conclude such an agreement because of its own political viability and embrace of Statehood. Who rides the Beast? Or, better yet, who seeks moral legitimacy and acceptance? Clearly, Hitler's State welcomed such acknowledgement—and did so wholeheartedly and with celebration.

The desire for moral covering by the State to prosecute its agenda of evil was precisely the ticket given to Hitler—and he used the free ride to the uttermost! Now, Kristal Nacht (i.e., the Night of Broken Glass) could take place, now open season on Jews, Gypsies, and all counter-culture pests and vermin could be unleashed with moral impunity, and so it was.

HITLER'S PROVIDENTIAL INTERVENTIONS

"I believe that Providence would never have allowed us to see the victory of the Movement if it had the intention after all to destroy us at the end."
Adolf Hitler, in a speech to old members of the Party at Munich on 8 Nov. 1933

"What we are we have become not against, but with, the will of Providence. And so long as we are true and honorable and of good courage in fight, so long as we believe in our great work and do not capitulate, we shall continue to enjoy in the future the blessing of Providence."
--Adolf Hitler, at Rosenheim in Bavaria, 11 Aug. 1935

"Providence has caused me to be Catholic and I know therefore how to handle this Church." --Adolf Hitler, reportedly to have said in Berlin in 1936 on the enmity of the Catholic Church to National Socialism

"I believe in Providence and I believe Providence to be just. Therefore I believe that Providence always rewards the strong, the industrious, and the upright."Adolf Hitler, in a speech to National Socialist women at the Nuremberg Parteitag of 1936 [11 Sept. 1936]

"We National Socialists, too, have deep in our hearts our own faith. We cannot do otherwise. No man can mould the history of peoples or of the world unless he has upon his will and his capacities the blessing of Providence." --Adolf Hitler, to Nazi leaders on 2 June 1937, as reported by a correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph"

"I will never allow anyone to divide this people once more into religious camps, each fighting the other....You, my Brown Guard, will regard it as a matter of course that this German people should go only by the way which Providence ordained for it when it gave to Germans the common language. So we go forward with the profoundest faith in God into the future. Would that which we have achieved have been possible if Providence had not helped us?"---Adolf Hitler, in a speech at Regensburg on 6 June1937

Hitler's constant appeal to divine intervention (i.e., providence), and Germany's resurrection through the birth of the National Socialist Party, were incessant and expected. The movement curried the favor of the divine blessing and presence. The smile of God was upon Germany because God Almighty, with His unseen hand and direction, had provided all that was necessary and spiritual to create the New Germany of Adolf Hitler.

Some naïve souls out there, whose academic endeavors attempt to reinterpret history, assume that the inevitability of Nazi Germany would have occurred regardless if there would have been a Hitler or not—what naivety! Conjecture all you wish: Without Hitler, there would NOT have been Nazi Germany, and that's my final answer. In retrospect and from the fallen perspective of Nazi Germany—Hitler was God's man for the hour!

SPIRITUAL UNITY THROUGH HITLER

"While we destroyed the Center Party, we have not only brought thousands of priests back into the Church, but to millions of respectable people we have restored their faith in their religion and in their priests. The union of the Evangelical Church in a single Church for the whole Reich, the Concordat with the Catholic Church, these are but milestones on the road, which leads to the establishment of a useful relation and a useful co-operation between the Reich and the two Confessions."---Adolf Hitler, in his New Year Message on 1 Jan. 1934

"So far as the Evangelical Confessions are concerned we are determined to put an end to existing divisions, which are concerned only with the forms of organization, and to create a single Evangelical Church for the whole Reich....

"And we know that were the great German reformer [Martin Luther] with us today he would rejoice to be freed from the necessity of his own time and, like Ulrich von Hutten, his last prayer would be not for the Churches of the separate States: it would be of Germany that he would think and of the Evangelical Church of Germany."---Adolf Hitler, in his Proclamation at the Parteitag at Nuremberg on 5 Sept. 1934

"Remain strong in your faith, as you were in former years. In this faith, in its close--knit unity our people today goes straight forward on its way and no power on earth will avail to stop it.”---Adolf Hitler, in a speech at Coburg on 15 Oct. 1937

In order to secure the full moral covering of the Church, Hitler had to coronate her unity through the Concordat with Rome and the establishment of a unified Evangelical Church expression. Thence, all priests and ministers were brought together as one faith in two confessions.

Eventually (but no matter) the evangelical wing of this twosome was impossible to solidify—but this didn't stop Hitler's march toward Church unity. He simply claimed victory no matter what the Protestants looked like on paper—as far as he was concerned, the union of the Evangelical Church was complete; and, so was the Catholic and Protestant union of faith. The cooperation between the two Confessions to legitimize the State's agenda was accomplished—details would come later. And, do you think that such union came about through decrees alone? Not so, the man many of you presumed had not a spiritual bone in his body was ubiquitous in his appearance and in hustling of German Protestants and Catholics—likewise did his political ministers curry the favor of the religious leadership of the nation, let alone its pew members. The "wine and dine" methodologies, which work so well in today's Churchianity, were extremely effective in Hitler's Germany—there is nothing new under the sun.

What we witness today in the halls of our Capitol and White House is regretfully similar—but then, again, does not our government represent all the people? And, with such vast constituencies, should not the "elect" gain access to those who lead them in civil affairs? Today, those evangelical leaders who anointed our President with oil, and laid their "holy hands" upon his head and shoulders in the Texas Governor's Mansion on that fateful day in 1999, as he declared his intentions to run for President of this great land, are they not the same ones who have repeated invitations to counsel with the highest office in the land? Shut out are the likes of the Roman Catholic Bishops and the National Council of Churches. Gone are the days of futile moral covering—welcome are those who have learned to stand in the gap and provide both votes and victory to the Commander-in-Chief. Furthermore, it pays to pray—to pray for the one who reflects your values and your spirituality!

GERMANY'S WORST NIGHTMARE COULD BE AMERICA'S

"Imbued with the desire to secure for the German people the great religious, moral, and cultural values rooted in the two Christian Confessions, we have abolished the political organizations but strengthened the religious institutions."--Adolf Hitler, speaking in the Reichstag on 30 Jan. 1934

So enshrined was Germany's spirituality in the mind of Hitler, that he took a quantum leap and linked the elimination of all political parties (save his National Socialist Party), as barriers to Germany's religious rebirth and awakening. By the sacrifice of political competition, the enthronement of Germany's spirituality could be realized! Imagine using religion to such an extent that it somehow legitimized the abolition of all political parties in Nazi Germany! This is unbelievable chutzpah on a scale so far out there that even the Pope cannot attain to it.

It would appear that by such elimination, Christianity's greatest hour had arrived—or was told it had arrived. But if you are going to tell a lie so immense and all encompassing, so absurd and ridiculous—why not shoot the gap, as they say, and blow the whole thing totally out of proportion to any reality? And so blatant was this lie that the people relished the thought and succumbed to its insanity! That's how absurd things had become—but I bet you never guessed that this was the reason he abolished all those political parties, did you?

No, I must confess, I can't see America sliding down the same pathway—not exactly in this way; although the thought, in the minds of some, that our current political parties are one in the same, disturbs me a little and the absurd nature of the American independent Party, the Libertarian Party, and the Green Party, etc., is of no small consolation either—in essence, some think we have but one political party of elites governing the masses in any event! But, I would have to conclude the religious card has, as yet, not been so dramatized nor discovered to the extent that Hitler utilized it before the Reichstag.

CARING FOR THE VULNERABLE—HITLER VS. THE CHURCH

"It would have been more to the point, more honest and more Christian, in past decades not to support those who intentionally destroyed healthy life than to rebel against those who have no other wish than to avoid disease. Moreover, a policy of laissez faire in this sphere is not only cruelty to the individual guiltless victims but also to the nation as a whole.... If the Churches were to declare themselves ready to take over the treatment and care of those suffering from hereditary diseases, we should be quite ready to refrain from sterilizing them."---Adolf Hitler, in his speech on 30 Jan. 1934

Quite the challenge—wouldn't you say? Even so, what have we here? The Church is enjoined to "care for the sick" lest they procreate and produce offspring who, because of their parents, cannot care for themselves? Indeed, the State "at least" has compassion to eliminate, through sterilization, such babes (before they are ever born) whose parents are mentally and/or physically remiss to care for their own—so what should the Church do to lift this burden from society? Think about it. Hitler was the master of such social engineering with the Church. The point here is challenging the keepers of the moral fiber of the nation—Hitler really did believe that the Church should pick up this burden—it is difficult to believe they did—witness the exhaust gasses that poured into the cabins of trucks filled with the mentally ill and the physically challenged. Such was the "social consciousness" of Nazi Germany's "mercy killings."

WE ARE GOD'S PEOPLE--HIS REDEEMER NATION—HITLER

"We have experienced a miracle, something unique, something the like of which there has hardly been in the history of the world. God first allowed our people to be victorious for four and a half years, then He abased us, laid upon us a period of shamelessness, but now after a struggle of fourteen years he has permitted us to bring that period to a close. It is a miracle, which has been wrought upon the German People.... It shows us that the Almighty has not deserted our people, that He received it into favor at the moment when it rediscovered itself. And that our people shall never again lose itself, that must be our vow so long as we shall live and so long as the Lord gives us the strength to carry on the fight."---Adolf Hitler, in a speech to the "Old Guard" of the Party at Munich on 19 March 1934

Throughout these "spiritual quotations" of Adolf Hitler, there is a keen awareness that in some mysterious fashion, this man actually believed what he was saying. Raised a Catholic, he did aspire to some form of spirituality—and, he certainly took his own spirituality seriously. To Hitler, the acknowledgement of one's spirituality, of German spirituality, was recognition of divine intervention in the affairs of man, and in his case, of the German nation.

A great deal has been made by many of Hitler's love affair with the occult. We do not deny his absorption therewith (e.g., Joseph Carr's THE TWISTED CROSS). However, the "public persona" of one Adolf Hitler was one steeped in Christian tradition—German traditional religious practice and imagery. He somehow knew what made the German soul tick and what really made most of mankind tick. His realization of what could motivate the human soul (mind, will and emotion) to its grandiose heights was decisively religious (i.e., the Christian religious expression) in its public manifestation.

Hitler's resort to divine participation in the affairs of the German people was brilliant and even strangely sincere. "God brought Germany 4.5 years of victory and then the shame of defeat for the next fourteen. Now, the same God who foreordained our demise has deemed us worthy of a far greater future than we could imagine—it is a miracle!" (My quotes) Hitler gives the Almighty all praise and honor for His intervention and Germany's rebirth. No surprise, if you've read everything that has gone before.

Simultaneously, as Germany came to itself, the Almighty declared His favor upon the nation! Hitler proposed that divine cooperation was mandatory for the German people to prolong their blessedness and rebirth. Here we have a profound spiritual truth wherein man can cooperate with God and literally move the hand of God Himself through obedience, sacrifice, and struggle. There is no easy way to secure God's blessing—it is given to those who would aspire to receive it. No, this was not a superficial regurgitation of "God helps those who help themselves." It was far deeper and much more profound that such simplistic verbiage and inane chatter. Hitler's pragmatic theology was lofty enough to capture the intellectually elite of the land, as well as scores of theologians who admired his grasp of theological truths and Hitler's ability to apply them to the real world. Yes, here was a man who could comprehend the incomprehensible through the eyes of God Himself!

So you construe that economic satisfaction alone persuaded the vast majority of Germans to enthusiastically embrace their Leader? Not so, look more earnestly, more deeply . . . leap into the spiritual dimension projected by a man who knew the deepest environs of the soul and spirit of a people. Then, you will surely behold the biblical contemplation: “Walk we not in the same steps, in the same spirit.”

GOD BLESS YOU AND GOD BLESS AMERIKA, (I mean) . . . GERMANY!

"No, it is not we that have deserted Christianity; it is those who came before us who deserted Christianity. We have only carried through a clear division between politics, which have to do with terrestrial things, and religion, which must concern itself with the celestial sphere. There has been no interference with the doctrine (Lehre) of the Confessions or with their religious freedom (Bekenntnisfreiheit), nor will there be any such interference. On the contrary the State protects religion, though always on the one condition that religion will not be used as a cover for political ends....

"For their interests cannot fail to coincide with ours alike in our fight against the symptoms of degeneracy in the world of today, in our fight against a Bolshevist culture, against atheistic movement, against criminality, and in our struggle for a consciousness of a community in our national life... These are not anti--Christian, these are Christian principles! And I believe that if we should fail to follow these principles then we should be able to point to our successes, for the result of our political battle is surely not unblest by God."---Adolf Hitler, in his speech at Koblenz, to the Germans of the Saar, 26 Aug. 1934

The repeated injunction to Germany's Christianity as the core of Germany's soul and heritage is undeniable in all of Hitler's proposals and polemics. He allegedly differentiated between the holy and the profane; between the secular and the divine; the heavenly and earthly; the celestial and the terrestrial. Again, here is one who understood the language of theology and the politics of religion.

Freedom of religious practice is what we hear—full commitment to the major confessions of the faith, without prejudice. The State would protect religion and its freedoms—as long as religion would keep its nose out of politics. Now, that's of great interest to some who welcome the support of the State today and are more than happy to express their political opinions—not so bad now that the State welcomes such spiritual approbation and adulation. But what of different times and places—then shall religion be otherwise so judged by the State if the State "feels" that the Church has left its sphere of influence? Think about it—it's a bit unnerving to contemplate a State that protects religious expression, as long as that religious expression does not criticize the State—now you know the rest of the story and your freedom. Or, will you loose your 501-C-3 (not-for-profit religious status) if you delve into the political realms too much. Some have—but they have only Hitler to follow when push comes to this shove, don't they?

PRAYER AND PERSEVERANCE--HITLER'S APPEAL

"Only so you can appeal to your God and pray Him to support and bless your courage, your work, your perseverance, your strength, your resolution, and with all these your claim on life."---Adolf Hitler, in a speech at Frankfurt on 16 March 1936

"In this world him who does not abandon himself the Almighty will not desert. Him who helps himself will the Almighty always also help; He will show him the way by which he can gain his rights, his freedom, and therefore his future."--Adolf Hitler, in a speech at Hamburg on 20 March 1936

How inspiring are his utterances? Again, can you fault the man for such impeccable appeals to the conscience of Germany's Christian populace? I don't imagine you can nor would you want to thwart his efforts by claiming they appear disingenuous. He truly believed in this type of prayer and cooperation with the divine—it appears a latent form of Augustinian and Calvinistic perseverance is understood in this illumination. No, you say, I give him too much credit—look more closely, I think some saintly spike upholds his rhetoric. The “Triumph of the Will” (Triumph des Willes)—Leni Riefenstahl’s Nazi propaganda classic filmed in 1935—captures the corporate will of an entire people marching lock step beneath the image of their Fuhrer. But, behind this vibrato--this hysterical display of unity—is a spiritual concept perpetrated by Hitler himself: Our will must be merged in cooperation with the divine will—then, and only then, God and man are joined together in purpose and destiny. Without the two found in sync, there is no manifestation of God’s plan and purpose for His people upon the earth!

HITLER'S MANIFEST CHRISTIANITY—IN DEED, NOT WORD

"This Winter Help Work is also in the deepest sense a Christian work. When I see, as I so often do, poorly clad girls collecting with such infinite patience in order to care for those who are suffering from the cold while they themselves are shivering with cold, then I have the feeling that they are all apostles of a Christianity—and in truth of a Christianity which can say with greater right than any other: This is the Christianity of an honest confession, for behind it stand not words but deeds."--Adolf Hitler, speaking of the Winter Help Campaign on 5 Oct. 1937

Perhaps Hitler was reading the Epistle of St. James—"I will show you my faith by my works." Hitler's Christianity was one of aggressive activity, characterized by "good deeds"—again, as he so often did, he commended such deeds, giving credit to his POSITIVE CHRISTIANITY. He was all about vibrancy, especially in religious activity—it was encouraged and continuously celebrated among the people and they loved him for it. Such respect for sacrifice and unselfish devotion to the German people were heralded by one who knew what it meant to be a true Christian—again, and I know it's difficult to fathom the depth of his recognition of Christianity in this way, but his words and deeds manifested to the German people (and I mean "German") were incessant and profoundly sincere to the ear of these people.

HITLER'S UNSHAKABLE FAITH IN THE ALMIGHTY

"In this hour I would ask of the Lord God only this: that, as in the past, so in the years to come He would give His blessing to our work and our action, to our judgment and our resolution, that He will safeguard us from all false pride and from all cowardly servility, that He may grant us to find the straight path which His Providence has ordained for the German people, and that He may ever give us the courage to do the right, never to falter, never to yield before any violence, before any danger.... I am convinced that men who are created by God should live in accordance with the will of the Almighty.... If Providence had not guided us I could often never have found these dizzy paths.... Thus it is that we National Socialists, too, have in the depths of our hearts our faith. We cannot do otherwise; no man can fashion world history or the history of peoples unless upon his purpose and his powers there rests the blessings of this Providence."--Adolf Hitler, in a speech at Wurzburg on 27 June 1937

In retrospect you look back in time and observe a man, a true leader, whose unshakable witness to his faith is almost unparalleled in the annals of political—and for that matter, religious—leadership. He saw man as created by God, rewarded for his reliance upon God, and fully sustained through cooperating with Him on a scale so grand that all self-consciousness in His presence is utterly abandoned.

You will not see one tepid in faith, faltering hither and thither—no, here's a champion of conviction that is in your face, and, as such, you who once wavered are truly bolstered and led by him into this same absolutism of conviction. Through every dizzy pathway—God, the single-minded and ever resilient One, was there keeping you on track because you were fulfilling His destiny. Hitler confessed it, actively believed in it, and lived like he owned what he confessed so stringently that all doubt ceased in his presence when it came to matters of faith. History would be changed—because God willed it and triumphed in the all-purposeful One Who anticipated Hitler's unfeigned devotion to his people, and to his God.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury—convict the man as a murderer, as a thief, as committing crimes against humanity on such a scale that comparisons cannot be found—but convict him not for his unfaltering faith in God Almighty! And you wonder why the Europeans express such suspicions of our President's expressions relative to the Almighty—suspect no further!

WAS HITLER AN OCCULTIST? DON'T BE SO SURE

"National Socialism is not a cult-movement—a movement for worship; it is exclusively a 'volkic' political doctrine based upon racial principles. In its purpose there is no mystic cult, only the care and leadership of a people defined by a common blood relationship....

"We will not allow mystically minded occult folk with a passion for exploring the secrets of the world beyond to steal into our Movement. Such folk are not National Socialists, but something else---in any case something which has nothing to do with us. At the head of our program there stand no secret surmising but clear-cut perception and straightforward profession of belief. But since we set as the central point of this perception and of this profession of belief the maintenance and hence the security for the future of a being formed by God, we thus serve the maintenance of a divine work and fulfill a divine will--not in the secret twilight of a new house of worship, but openly before the face of the Lord...

"Our worship is exclusively the cultivation of the natural, and for that reason, because natural, therefore God-willed. Our humility is the unconditional submission before the divine laws of existence so far as they are known to us men.--Adolf Hitler, in Nuremberg on 6 Sept. 1938

I do not for one minute, contrary to Hitler's pronouncements above, believe that Hitler did not embrace the occult and sought its hidden wisdom. Likewise, within the pomp and circumstances of endless ceremonies and Nazi altars and oaths, there was the occult's stamp everywhere and in manifold witness to his search for meaning among the ancients and their hierarchies.

But, one would be hard pressed to believe that Hitler's public witness in condemnation of the occult, and, thence, his stalwart celebration of God-willed, God-ordained living and confession, was not mainstream Christianity as the Germans knew it—sincerely so. Do leaders say one thing in public and another they practice in private? Perhaps the most classic case would be Nancy Reagan's timing among the mediums and Ronnie's schedules being altered to conform to these enchanters. And, what of the Skull and Bones of the current Administrator? Compromise at this level is private and personal—best left to the pages of checkout stands for enquiring minds who really have a need to know.

Conspiratorial theories abound as to the occult amongst the Nazis in general, and within Hitler's possessions specifically. If we were to adjudge his political stance to be his personal one on this issue—we would be kidding ourselves, especially with the knowledge available on this subject. No, Hitler was overtly occultic in every way, shape and form—though he would deny any of it to the public and even to himself! He would have been right at home in the courts of Nebuchadnezzar with his magicians, conjurers, sorcerers and master astrologers (Chaldeans). Reputed to have transported over a thousand Tibetan monks to empower his decisions to Berlin is not a casual touch with the underworld of the occult!

Never mind, Hitler's fidelity to true Christianity and to the Christian God were so clearly defined within the hearts and minds of the German people that no one would ever believe such a thing were possible with such a great man of faith and virtue.
'THE HAMMER OF GOD'—THE NAZI PARTY
"The National Socialist Movement has wrought this miracle. If Almighty God granted success to this work, then the Party was His instrument."---Adolf Hitler, in his proclamation to the German People on 1 Jan 1939

Can one possibly imagine that a political party could be so identified with the move of God Almighty? Isn't it ludicrous to assert such a thing—that a political party can somehow insinuate itself upon God in this way—so that the "Party of God" becomes your particular party or the party that best represents the interests of the Almighty? Never happen? Not! This repeatedly happens throughout the world and on a consistent basis.

Today we witness an amazing reoccurrence: The Republican Party does its good pleasure in the Name of God (for the most part) and the Democratic Party does its evil in its own name—as do most of the other political aberrations. But, the GOP is the GOD Party of today—just how does this happen in a "civilized society" which welcomes the Almighty here and there—but His current takeover of the GOP is a little ostentatious of Him, don't you think? How in the world does voting Republican equate to voting for a divine slate of candidates and how do the churches know that such identification brings in the blessing of the Almighty? I don't know—maybe they'll let me in on the secret or, if you find out before I do, email me!
