Add Link: Add Your Link To Add A Link Pages

I was amazed to find the number people are looking for "add your link" pages. This shouldn't come as a surprise. The number of inbound links go a long way toward getting your site to rank higher in the major search engines. However, in order for your back links to be most effective, there are a few tips to consider.

1. You Must Be Relevant

In order for your links to achieve the most success, they must come from related sites. You shouldn't merely add a link to any random web directory. Scout out similar sites. How do you learn which are relevant to your own? Search for yourmain topic in the dmoz.org directory and find which category you fall under. Most links you add to a page in a related topic is to be desired.

2. Be Creative

As you likely know, it is quick to submit the web form to automatically add your link to another site. They will almost always seek a link in return, but that shouldn't be too big a problem. One issue is that when you add your link to a long list it won't have as much impact as links in context. If you desire your hyperlink to be placed powerfully on a main page of the
site, initiate contact with the owner and ask. If you offer to write an article for the site (which should include a backlink to your site), you'll be surprised at just how many webmasters will accept.

One marketer whose blog I follow has had a good measure of success by emailing webmasters and inviting them to submit their site to his own directory. When the webmaster responds, he often feels obligated to add your link to his own site.

3. Be Consistent

Taking some action out performs no action, but consistent action is powerful. A good strategy is to add a similar amount of new incoming links to your site each month. That way, your link building will look more normal and will result in the greatest jump in rank position in the search engines.

You'll also want to track your continued progress. There are a number of good software programs out there to keep track of the number of links pointing to your domain. They vary in complexity and cost. As you see your progress, this will give much motivation to keep adding new links pointing to your site.

Matt would like you to watch a demo of a tracking software which onitors your add link progress. Site Page Tracker users receive daily email updates of the sites linking to their own.
